Super Distortion's

I'm going to slap them in my LP Std. The guitar is a bit on the dark side...hopefully these will help!

Cool score.

The Super D I have in the bridge of my Yamaha is pretty dark and midrangey, it might soung cool in your LP, but unless you're going for a really creamy, smooth OD tones, you might need brighter pickups.

BTW, I hope that he made a mistake while measuring the resistance. My SD weighs in at circa 14K.

He may have mistakenly only measured one coil

BUT..... Were they already available as 4 conductor in the ´70s?? Something bothers me on that....

Either way, the Super distortion is the last pickup after an Invader that I´d put in an already dark guitar..... you may not get what you´re looking for from that pickup, a Duncan Distortion would have probably been a better choice IMO.... but try it when they get there, ears and tastes differ

Maybe some 500k vol pots will do the trick as far as brightening it up?

According to Dimarzio's website, the Dual Sound (4-conductor Super Distortion) was released in 1974.

If the super distortion is too dark in your neck, the super II could be a possible pickup for you use. The super II has about the same tone as a super distortion but more treble to deal with being in the neck.

Ah, thx... I refuse the give Dimarzio even a hit on the website until they drop the DC trademark

Yup. I clearly remember a friend of mine installing DiMarzio Dual Sounds in his LP copy in the 70s, with several mini toggles for splitting, phase reversal etc.

The Super Distortion is a big, warm, midrangey pickup.
