My little brother has been needing a new electric guitar for some time now, and he finally got a Peavey Predator almost identical to mine:The tuners, as was the case with mine, are worn out and very loose. I know I can always drill/ream larger holes for new tuners, but I'd like to find some direct replacements. The holes are smaller than the Planet Waves Auto-Trim tuners. I borrowed one of Luke's old Gibson tuners to see if it was vintage size. The hole itself is bigger than the vintage tuner, but the sleeve/grommet is smaller. Has anyone had any experience with these or am I going to have to buy a micrometer?
That is a nice looking axe. I don't why I didn't think of this when you PM'ed me, but have you tried calling Peavey parts? They usually have pretty good service and prices. Just a thought.
Artie
Thanks Artie. I'll give them a try. Anyone know of any others off hand before I call them?
Hey I've got these old Kluson tuners...

I guess I could at least give them a shot.

The holes are 13/32 or 10mm, almost all aftermarket tuners, Gotoh, Schaller, Grover, etc. are 10mm. Hope that helps.

Nope, they're smaller than that. The planet waves tuners in mine are 13/32quot; and I had to ream the holes out. I'm guessing they're closer to 3/8quot;
Why would you want the same tuners if they have a history for wearing out (both your's and your brothers guitars suffer from the same problem).
If you feel confortable with doing the job, get some decent tuners and do what's necessary to use them.

I'm not necessarily looking for the factory replacements. I'd just like to know what size they are and go from there trying to find better ones that will fit without modification.
I'm comfortable with doing the work, but I borrowed the reamer and I don't know if I can get it back.
