Anybody know anything about these?

Is it a type of Gibson LP or what? What do you know about them?

Hey Christian, I see that you have become well and truly affected by the Lester disease. I was under the impression that the Raw Power series had the natural finish and stock EMG pickups. Though looking through my archives, I came up with this:
All I know is that it have a tonepros system and EMG's. but that might be wrong...

Now that I think about it, I may have read that the EMGs were fitted to models shipped to Japan. It's also of note that the finish is satin rather than lacquer.
Just a quot;rawquot; standard with EMGs...

I've got to admit, I've been giving it more than a passing glance lately...pretty guitar. Not a big fan of EMGs but if I had another Paul for more traditional LP tones, I'd love to have one as an all out metal axe.

Well, when I first saw them they had nickel or chrome covered buckers but I was looking at various stores and they all have EMG's now...I looked on Gibson site and they are not even mentioned there anymore, not even as a discontinued model...seeing those pics lets me know that Im not crazy and they did, at least at one time come w/o EMG's.

báratta, I am looking to buy a Les Paul soon (I must admit...I have never owned a Les Paul...I have had a few that were on a long term loan, but I have never owned one for myself) but I have to be honest...I have played tones of Standards and Faded Standards and feel that the quality is lacking quite a bit over all and I would prefer the necks to be a bit bigger...even the quot;50'squot; necks. So I started looking at the Historics and I a know that for some of you guys it's no biggie...but for me 2k on 1 guitar is a good bit of cheese. As for the Raw Powers I will admit my Jeff Beck worship...Jeff played a 59 Standard for a quite a while starting in the Yardbirds and going through the tours for Truth, at some point he stripped it down to bare wood and I always thought it looked cool...that said I am now having a ***** of a time finding info on the Raw Power guitars.

I just saw them the other day on the Gibson site...they have started making them again, no?

Thats what I found too...Musicians Friend as well as Zzounds, Music 123 and several other online dealers have them but they arenot mentioned on Gibsons site...odd for sure.

Does anybody know what neck profile the RP's have/had?

As a Standard derivative (pre-2002) it has the rounded profile.

I think they look kinda cool, but then I always liked the look of Mick Ronson's Les Paul when he was working with Bowie, and I suspect maybe that's what they had in mind, though I'm not sure what they're playing at with the EMGs.

I really liked the older ones they had a few years ago and was gasing for one pretty bad. Not sure on the new ones though, i'd probably like them better if they didn't come stock with emgs.

That picture on MF looks really nice but HOLY COW that price is crazy!!
