What are the top acoustic amps on the market these days? Are there any large structural differences between acoustic amps and electric amps? Do acoustic amps run on tubes?

What would be the 'JCM900', 'Rectifier' (big name) equivalent amps for acoustics?

There's a lot to learn... lol.

i really like the SWR amps (california blonde, strawberry blonde) ... very excellent tone ... kinda pricey, but really among the top of the line ...
i like my carvin ag-100d very much, but i am not kidding myself about its tone being anything other than quot;beer budgetquot; .. it's lightweight, reliable, versatile, and affordable ...

but i'll tell ya, after being at UGD and trying out SD's DTAR gear (then hearing Evan use it at the jam) i'd say to look into that with a powered full range PA speaker (mackie, JBL, carvin, yamaha?) ... their preamp system was outta control for tone shaping and quietness ... and the modeller is just insanely cool for how many tones it gets in such a natural sounding way ...

i think the main difference between acostic amps and electric amps is going to be in the EQ shaping (to allow for feedback notching as needed) and the inclusion of a quot;tweeterquot; for more detailed capturing of the high end definition ... of course, you wont have insane gane characteristics in an acoustic amp either ..

i suppose one will find tube amps for acoustic out there - i honestly never looked .. i know one manufacturer is even putting a tube ON their acoustic guitar's onboard preamp ...
