If I put a JB in a (mex) telecaster will that take away from the twang? Or the will the twang still be there, but more subtle?
Also, would a JB Jr. do the job if I decide to go this route? or are those only for Strat type guitars?
thanks for the look, help, info.
If you keep it set low you can still get some twang. The JB in a Tele actually has a Tele vibe to it due to the brightness of the pickup. I used a JB in my Tele for years but recently changed to a 59b to get a more balanced vintage sound. With a set of 59's my Tele can cover alot of different styles!
can the '59 do quot;heavierquot; modern rock tones? I had one in my strat and wasn't too impressed with it. The fact is, I barely played the guitar, so I really don't have a great idea of what the pickup sounds like.
The 59b can do anything. It is alot warmer then a JB which can be very bright with the wrong guitar. The 59's are perfect for anything from jazz to metal and don't overload yor preamp the way a high gain pickup will.
Thanks saladin!
I hate to bump and resurrect, but...
*resurrect*
*bump*
anybody else have any thoughts on this? I know you're thinking quot;sh*t, another JB question!quot; but, c'mon, I need to decide if I value the twang enough or if it's just a novelty I can get rid of!
