ok.. who has one, who used one, who played through one.
did you have any issues.
how much you think it's worth etc etci played through one the other day since a friend of mine owns one and the tone was INSANE! we tinkered with it and got everything from full blown mesa to early maiden to modern maiden and everything inbetween out of it. through my solid state crate to boot!!! (that alone speaks volumes)
now, he wont sell it to me.. he rarely plays, but is an ass about it. i wont call him and ask him, cos, well.. he's an ass about it.
i just saw one on sale for $275 and i think of snagging it, just for the sake of tinkering with it more than a couple of hours (and do some recording with it too perhaps). i could easily sell it for 300 later, and even that is about 150 below the going rate here.i am not going for accurate amp/cab modelers, i'm only going for a good sounding unit.. and i wager that it cant be THAT bad since vai still has it in his live rig
i'm gonna call the dude up tomorrow and see if he still has it if he has everything with it etc etc
post your thoughts
Zoom? Run away, fast.
While the tones might be cool, all of the Zoom units I've ever encountered had serious reliability problems. If you want to get into modeling, Boss, Line 6, and Korg have some pretty cool units.
this is the old stuff dude... late 80's. they made quality stuff back then. 16bit processing unit, midi controlable, stereo out loads of effects, rackmount etc etc etc.
new stuff SUCKS!!!! this thing is bulletproof. i wouldnt be head over heels for it if i hadnt tried it myself.
i'm trying it out on sunday and i'll most likely get it too.

1 on all counts. Zoom stuff is hellacious fun. Great for screwing around with at home, but gigging is totally out of the question.
Not to mention, I can't imagine any Zoom product being worth $275
The other day I found one of these in my closet, all neatly packed away in the original box, w/ original manual, wall wart, and styrofoam. I think I cut lawns for 3 months to afford it circa 1991.
you guys need to research a bit more regarding the 9050
this is THE best multieffects echo and delay unit. this is NOT new stuff. now quit being such monkeys and check this stuff out. this is better than 95% of todays modelers and multieffects stations
not to mention it was hellaciously expencive

I absolutely refuse to believe anything that says Zoom on it is the best of anything. Also, I would bet there's a device that says Lexicon, Rocktron, or ART on the front that totally ****s all over this thing.

would vai use it if it was a piece of crap?
seriously. the new stuff, sucks donkey ass. there's probably no worse multieffects pedals, boards etc than the new stuff. the late 80's/early 90's stations piss all over it. i can understand people being put off because of the new products, but you dont know what you're talking about when you say this unit sucks. research it in dept and actualy try one if you get the chance and you'll be amazed
if you dont know what it looks like:

Interesting.... I'll reserve further judgement until I get to try one. I've gotta say that the floor board looks like typical Zoom cheap-ass stuff, though

i TOTALY agree on the floor boards. you have to like step on em barefoot AND like a girl to not brake em.. this one i think is no exeption, but i can use whatever midi floorboard i want with it
ok, now this thread has instigated a memory that on my 9030, one of the effect parameters used to wander. Meaning, u'd set the gain for 51%, and then as ur playing, ud see it wander either down or up slowly. The parameter would actually move on it's own after saving it. I'm pretty sure this started happening about a year or so after purchasing it circa 1991.
LOL
never heard anything like that before

Maybe you accidentally pressed the quot;wanderquot; button
Seriously, it wouldn't surprise me if it had something like that built in. I bet there's something in Zoom's mission statement about having features that are completely useless.
