How important is it, when installing an original Floyd Rose, to use the mounting studs and screws that come with it, because without some minor work, i cant put mine in because my Ibanez ones are too small. Could i continue using the Ibby ones, or is it generally recommended to switch to the real ones.
Also how can i remove the old, stubborn mounting studs, that seem almost permanently fixed in?
If your RG has the Lo-TRS type trem, the OFR is a drop-in and you can use the Ibanez studs, the spacing is correct. If you have alater one that has an Edge-Pro II or an Edge III, you're S.O.L. because the routing point is different, the OFR woud never intonate. Major wood alterations are required...
Hope this helps!
Cheers Pinto, i do have the Lo-Trs system, and i am able to put the Floyd in, its just that i was wondering if having the floyd studs in would improve stability and tone etc.
Unless I was going to block it for downward pull only, I'd personally dowel and re-drill for OFR posts. I'd just feel better knowing it was on a more solid posts. Not that there's anything wrong with those posts, AFAIK, they just don't feel as solid to me.
Whats the best way to get the old studs out, they are really stuck in there?
