Hi Guys
I've read some real good reviews of WCR crossroads pups. Any of you guys had first hand experience? I'd be very interested to hear your views.
thanks.
Spidey,
Jim's Crossroads pickups are wonderful PAF style pups. There are lots of Les Pauls slingers that like them in their guitars, including myself. I swapped a set in and out for a quick A/B and really like them - clear, pristine and consistent. It is a well balanced set that really helps with your tone if your LP is suffering.
Have you been to his website for the soundclips?
Lee M.
Are WCR's all that or all hype?
The sound clips on the website are real good. I'ld love to try them, but I think Seth Lovers or '59's will get you there too.
too expensive for me...

They are hot on the LPF right now just like Voodoo's were and Timbuckers etc were. They are very flavor of the month about pups though. I would imagine they are pretty good but I haven't tried them.
$260 a set is comparable to Duncan's CS so I guess its competitive price wise.

For a fully-spec'd set from MJ, I've been quoted $165 for one pickup. x2 that is $330, which is inline with Wagner's highest priced set.
Wagner's pickups have been doing well for several years, now - they aren't really a flavor of the month. They are getting more press on the LPF because the member base at that Forum continues to grow and professional artists continue to use his pickups. Additionally, Wagner doesn't have a rediculous 2 year waiting list like some one-man shops or have poor customer service. He gets his stuff out the door in 2-3 days at most and is extremely nice.
I love Duncan's and stand behind their product (have 2 strats fully loaded with their pickups). I also stand behind Wagner's products because they sound GOOD and he runs a quality, honest business...much like Seymour and his crew.
Nicely put, Lee.
