They thought I was crazy. Walked in, grabbed an epiphone special with horrible action, and left with it.

I probably was. Anyway, I have the phat cat for it. I have new grover tuners for it. I have a heatgun and polymerized tung oil sitting around. I gave it a fret job using fine sandpaper and steel whool and painter's tape. Olive oil on the fretboard since it's all I have at school. Just getting the neck that much nicer though from sanding down those bad frets, I feel like I'm moving forward with it. The big job is still going to be getting the finish off the neck. It's a bolt on though so it should be more simple than with the explorer. I think I'm going to leave the body as-is though with the black finish. A four piece body which is half limba half alder isn't too attractive to look at.

great! show us the pics when u are done ok?

iiiiiiiiiiinteresting. I always wanted to do something like that, but I'm never gonna have the time or ability...

meh. if ya like it, go for it.

Olive oil on the fretboard??

Hmmmm don't know if that's better or worse than nothing at all.....

But I guess you can be the ultimate judge....I've just never heard of anyone using olive oil.

Oh well, it's a cheap guitar so if worst comes to worst I'll just call it a learning experience.
