i saw that in a magazine and was blown away! 150 watts in less than 2 foot wide package! 4.6 pounds! Is it the real deal?

Many people on other forums have simply raved about using them as a poweramp for modelers and/or a backup amp. I think they'd be great to power modelers, or for an alternative to a PA to run vocals through.

It's a digital amplifier, Velodyne (a sub company) makes 3000W amps that are smaller than VHS tapes...crazy stuff.

I like the price though $250.

yeah, with a splash of reverb from a pedal somebody could easily cover clean blues and jazz gigs with minimal hassle.

played one at GC - loved it. sounds great by itself. Awesome size! Would be a must for any gigging guitarist. It goes into overdrive pretty quick. I don't believe there's a switch for the overdrive, it's a preamp knob, and so if it is up a little and you start turning up the master, it'll distort like a tube amp sort of. A cool feature, but they market it like it would be a crystal clear power source for use with a modeling amp, but it seemed like it got too dirty too quick for that application.

I'd use it

I looked into this for amplifying my PODxt, but it is out of my budget since I would have to buy a cab as well.

It seems just like a poweramp to me, how is it that special?

It's a guitar amp... built in distortion and so on...

Rock ON

So it's like a head basically? Preamp and poweramp without a speaker?

Yes, but it can also be used as a stereo power amp.

Yes and no. It works as a head with decent tone, but its big selling point is that it is a stereo power amp in a small, economical package. I think its primary purpose is as a power amp, but you can also use it as a full amp for quot;just in casequot; situations.

Wait, so I could use this with a Pod Pro rack? That's awesome!

Better yet, go with the PodXT Live into it. Run one cable from guitar to the XT, and two back to the poweramp. Killer setup!

What's a good cab to use in conjunction with the Pod/Crate? You'd need something with pretty transparent speakers to pick up on the subtle qualities of the modeled amps correct?

Yeah it seems to work great for modelers, but if you want something that sounds really cool, try using a rackmount pod through a tube power amp.
