Hello,
I am installing one Emg with one tone and one volume. HEre is what I did.
1. Connected pickup to wires using the snap connect thing
2. Soldered the red one the pup and the red on the battery
3. Soldered the white from the pickup to the left lug on the volume pot
4. soldered the black from the output jack to the tone pot (grounded)
5. installed battery
I get nothing. The only sound is when I touch the screws on the pickup ring
What do I need to do?
thanks
Make sure that the clip on caple is on the right way, and double check all your solder connections.
Make sure you solder the braid (metal part of the lead wire) to the back of the volume pot. Also, the black battery wire has to go to the output jack. There's also another wire going from the jack to the middle lug of the volume.
Perhaps you should consult a schematic from EMG's website.
I get sound by switching around the way I plugged it in.
But anytime I touch the pup or the screw on the ring I get a sound like it is not grounded. All connections are fine
I get constant hum. It gets worse when I touch the screws

I did not solder the braid. The schem that came with it was not real clear to me. thanks so much I will solder that and reply back
Yeah, that metal braid will solve your problems! It's the ground wire for the pickup.
Let us know how it sounds!
Isn't it funny that the jack and pickups get grounded, but the circuit itself doesn't?
Perfect now. Thanks JB!
For his help I think you owe us some clips ? also, what guitar is this going into?
