from : localhost/prolly never guess the amp..unless you saw this over on HC it *is* a tube amp with an EQ pedal pushing the mids and gain a tad...a combo at that....

Sounds awesome! What where you using?

It's not me....

But I wanna see what some more people think it is....I think most people will be like, WTF?

It does have that EVH sound going on. Initially i would say some vintage marshall combo or something, but thats too easy. Is it a Peavey bandit or something?!?!?!

More clues...

It's NOT a Marshall

It *IS* a tube amp.

it *IS* a multispeaker combo.

it *is* of recent manufacture (meaning it's not vintage...per-se)

It's just a little goosed with a BOSS GE-7...mids pushed up a bit (^) , gain pushed up a bit...not a ton though...

I heard it on musicianforums.com, and I wasn't that surprised at the type of amp...

I don't know what it is. Sounds like that amp has a hard time with the pedal. Just a guess: is it a 4x10quot; Fender Concert Reverb?

nor was I much..but I think alot of people would be....they don't realize that amp (and brand for that matter) is capable of such things...

I want to say one of those Crates, but I'm not sure. Possibly that blue Traynor?

SOUNDS LIKE TWEED TO ME!

I'll say this...I can get a tone a good bit like that from my Custom Vibrolux reverb. I will also say that those are 10quot; speakers...my guess is either a Custom Vibrolux Reverb or a reissue Tweed Bassman...

BUZZZZZZZZZZZZ...I'm sorry....that's incorrect Thanks for playing Jeff How about some nice parting gifts?

Year's supply of Rice-A-Roni?

or perhaps Turtle-Wax?

And he has it CRANKED.

regardless....very good Borwnish Plexi sound...(and we all know about the Bassman/early Marshall similarity)

I had a feeling...Im telling you, that CVR sounds a lot like that and has reverb and tremolo...it is a great amp. I came very close to getting a Bassman LTD when I got the CVR but the CVR was being offered at a killer price with better speakers and a tube change already the Bassman LTD was stock...plus a 2x10 combo is pretty easy to move around!

It does sound very close. Nice soundclip, thanks JeffB. I was about to say a Fender amp too. Makes me GAS for a Bassman

I couldnt concentrate on the sound... the guy is playing panama TOO SLOW... my god it's like fingernails down a chalkboard!!!

j/k... the tone is amazing! At first I thought it was an old fender with a tube rectifier, but you said he has it changed to solid state... I thought I was hearing a bit of the quot;crashingquot; sound of a tube rectifier getting pushed. Better get my ears checked...

Nice tone though!

He said in the HC thread he was just goofing around with that

He's going to hell for violating the 12th commandment:

Thou shalt not butcher Van Halen rhythm parts

Not to be confused with the 11th commandment:

Thou shalt not attempt stairway to heaven in the presence of others.

And the 13th commandment:

Thou shalt cut thy emo hair or feel my wrath.

I was in GC in Orange yesterday with my Hamer playing through a bunch of amps (weird, I was the only person there trying out stuff?) and this lady walked up to me and said...quot;c'mon...no Stairway?quot; .... she was kidding, but it cracked me up...

doesnt sound bad. guy needs to pick up the tempo. makes it hard to listen to.

I almost went there today... but I drive a total of 1 and a half hours from waterbury to hartford for college every day. It makes driving to guitar center seem that much less enjoyable.
