There are a lot of thoughts about how different materials and brands of cable affect tone, but this has to be the most ridiculous cable ever. Check out the prices of the top one, then scroll down (you really have to see this to believe it). from : localhost/analysis-plus.com/Pages/pro_guitar_cables.htm
I don't want my guitar to sound that good. I think that paying even $100 for a 20 foot cable is ridiculous. I can't think of any way that this cable can be good enough or make enough of a difference to justify the price. Many of our best known and loved and emulated tones were probably made using whatever untility crappy cable they had laying around the studio. Stop the insanity!!!
That was the most ridiculous price list I ever seen! People that pay those prices are beyond obsessed with sound.
Tht is a heck of a lot of money!
There are probably a difference, but it is up to the customer to decide if it is worth it.
But I must admit that I spent a small fortune (like the price of a Les Paul here) on speaker and signal cables for my Hi-Fi system, though.
I can understand the high cost of the single crystal copper wire. I don't know that it's THAT much better, but it is an expensive process. Their $270/ft proprietary cable is beyond rediculous, though. Let's face it, even if it IS that good, the rest of the wiring in the set up isn't. The wires in you're guitar are plain copper, as are the wires in your amp and the wires in you're sound board/recording equipment (if you're in a studio). It's only going to be as good as it's weakest link, so your $2700 cable is unnecessary. These guys feed off the ultra rich that have no common sense. I guess there's a lot of companies that way.
thats crazy!
you could buy a pro wireless setup for less than that.
for that money i could get a classy shure wireless system! This is ridiculous.
I like the Golden Oval Guitar Cable for a small sum of $ 2,700 for 10 ft.
Incredible!
BTW, can I go a little bit off-topic?
Does a 'standard' guitar cable 1/4quot; plug like the one pictured above, suit correctly into a Vintage Marshall amp type input, like the ones pictured here?
It seems to me from the picture that the 'hole' is narrower?
I know this cable company. Their prices are pretty standard fare for high end audio.
