I have a Highway 1 tele stock, and I would like to know how different the sound and output would be in the neck position compared with the Alnico II Pro or other SD pickups...
Thanks in advance!
The APTR-1 is a sweet-sounding pickup. It's kind of on the softer, more mellow side; with lower output. In an alder Tele, it's going to have those same qualities but a bit more than in an ash body. This is compared to your Hwy. 1 Tele's stock neck pickup.
Thanks Butch!

Let's bump this and see what others think.
I've only heard the A2 Pro Tele rhythm in a Lite Ash Tele, and I was not impressed at all. It sounded dull and undergunned (as did the A2P lead). I also did not care for the 5/2 Nashville Tele rhythm pickup for the same reasons (although I liked the 5/2 lead). My favorite traditional Tele rhythm pickup is the Antiquity I flatpole version. After that I would look at the Hot Tele rhythm (STR-2), or the Fralin Vintage Hot and Blues Special, although I've only heard them and not used them. IMHO, the Fender neck pickups are all serviceable and better than most of the SDs other than the Antiquity and perhaps the STR-2.
Different strokes...
