Yep, it's the 80s GAS again. I just tried and rewire my model 4 and now OH GOD do I wish I had a guitar with just one little measly humbucker. Of course it'd be wired to get pretty much all possibilities. But they're always cool as hell.
Suggest cool guitars with this? Doesn't need to be very expensive, but I'd like to see anything you can throw. Next guitar I buy hopefully will be like this.
One 'bucker Peavey Patriot's are fairly common, and inexpensive, on eBay. I love mine. Its a much nicer guitar than the price suggests.
Artie
I tried to look for a new guitar like that a while ago, nothing too expensive, and couldn't really find any. The only one that comes to mind is the Jackson Bond rhoads.
I'd recommend buying a strat or another guitar with a pickguard. No unnecessary holes that way.
Damn, I think that I need one myself too!
Good call on the Strat indeed.
I think I should just do that actually... A mexi Strat with Floyd, a new pickguard, and do a mod a la XSSIVE.
Ohhh and a Warmoth neck.
Yum.
Pointy are always better by the way
Used Kramer's (Baretta's and Pacers). Heck, get a MIM Strat real cheap, get a pickguard routed for 1 bridge humbucker, drill the volume control hole where you want it, wire it up, mount it and you're ready to go.
Note: the body will be S-S-S routed or H-S-H routed so there is the chance a little routing will need to be done.
EDIT: ok, so I was beating to the Strat idea.
Dear god... I LOVE this. How much do Stagemasters usually go for? I barely ever see any
Wow, that is beautiful. Brent (9finger) has got to see this one.
Keep an eye on eBay. Someone at the VintageKramer forum just got one for $500 (US). Not bad at all.
Looks like this winter, I'll try hard and get one of these! Cheers dude.
Ohhh I forgot the most obvious choice: Charvel model 5A. 2 models to be on the lookout for.
Fender Tom Delonge Sig.
Charvel San Dimas
The cheapest one humbucker guitar I can think of is the one I own...The Squier Bullet Special! It is a great little guitar once you change the pickup...and perhaps get a new neck...and maybe repainting if you don't like the Ice Blue Metallic color...but otherwise its still only $100

Would I need to change the body too? hehe... sorry dude, just messing. I'm not too keen on Squiers, but I've played a couple that were pretty nice!
Ok, since we're throwing pics up, I'll just throw mine in here....
Here's the link:
1988 Kramer Baretta
This is a popular topic this week. Kramer 1984 Cool.
When you really want to rock 1 hum is all it takes!

I had one that wasn't all that bad. The neck was actually pretty kickass. All the electronics and the tuners were obviously garbage. However, once I dropped an EMG 81 in it, (even with a plywood body) it sounded pretty good.
I'd also recommend a Charvel Model 2.
My SG-X...but you can't have it!My old Strat, now n the loving hands of Y2stevo.
That's a Demon - series/split/parallel, with 500k pots.

how the hell did you aquire that?!?!?!?
I bought the guitar (no pickguard, stock 500T) from a forum member...slapped on some knurled knobs...had a black/cream/black guard and trussrod cover made...got a zebra DD from anthoer source. Viola!
It started its life with me looking exactly like this.
Here is a fairly good deal on one.
