Well even the DD pups should be pretty quiet and hum free?
i think your prob may be something other than the pups?
how old is the power tubes in your 5150?
i'm not sure, cause i bought my head used, could that be a problem?

sure tubes can cause a hum as well as a bad guitar chord or a bad connection in the wiring of the guitar
there are many things it could be so i am sorry to tell you that you will have to do the old process of elimination method unless someone here has another opinion?
I think it's just the 5150 II.... those amps are said to hum hugely.

I've got an Invader in the bridge of my ESP and I've got no problem with humming at all. Sure it has the usual high gain hiss, but nothing more than other amps. If you want to hear a lot of noise plug into a line 6 HD147 and turn the noise gate down, it's ****in rediculous.
