Would a Dimarzio Virtual PAF or Air Classic be the answer.
I am looking for a bridge pickup with enough warmth to get a nice thin lizzy, black sabbath type distortion (see songs like Wild One and A Antional Acrobat) but with enough clarity to have a nice chimey clean sound.
What are the main differences between these to pickups and will they match well with a PHAT CAT ?
I can't say enough 'bout my Pearly Gates. What guitar are you using?
24 3/4, 25 or 25 1/5 inch scale?
Using a Epi Les Paul
Also love the Trex sound (i have a fuzz coming my way soon)

With all due respect bro, most folks consider the PG on the bright end of the spectrum. I consider it bright and harsh myself. Thats was in a 24.75 scale all mahogany guitar with rosewood board also.
James, the Air Zone may be the better choice. Also, check out for some killer, excellent sounding, hand wound to your specs pickups. I just pickups up a used set and they are amazing. Clarity, warmth and exceptional harmonic complexity. I'm very impressed with these.

I love the PG, but Dave's right, it does have sizzle on the top end. For smooth with clarity, I'd get a Seth or APH.
If you want something a little hotter than what's already been recommended, try the CC. I have one in my Epi LP now and will never replace it. The tone is just wonderful.
