Cleaning house are we?

Lew, I have a feeling you'll regret this someday.

Probably...like in a few years from now when these are going for $10K or more!

I need to raise a quick 20K to finish the remodel on my new home. I'll be able to make some good money on it when I sell it. More than what these amps will be worth in 5 years or so.

The other thing is, I'm sold on my Matchless Chieftan and SC-30. I've never owned a better amp than those two.

I'm keeping a few of my old amps though: my '51 Super and '58 Deluxe and '59 Princeton among others.

I'm just selling the things I really never ever play...and I never play my Marshall or Bassman anymore.

Lew

Lew.... YA BIG DUMMY!! Must you part with the Bassman????? LOL I know how it feels to sell stuff you really don't want to in order to buy other things.

oh shhh

I sold some stuff I really miss now to pay for tuition to go to college. Like my Fender Super Reverb. It sucks.

Now if I could only come up with a few grand for that Bassman I'd be all set

My wife and I are in the middle of some remodelling as well..

ooooHHHHH babYYYY!!!

if you're selling this remind me to never plug into a matchless!!! i'm to scared!

I want it but I have very little money

Hoss you had better stay away from a matchless. You can however plug into my Dr. Z anytime you want.

Truthfully: I think my Matchless Chieftan and Matchless SC-30 are amps that will be worth a fortune 20 years from now. Like Joe said (Gearjoneser), the Matchless amps from the Mark Samson era the plexi Marshalls and Vox AC-30's of this time period. For my style, they're the two best quot;newquot; amps I've ever owned. And not only are they hand wired, they're point to point handwired: NO CIRCUIT BOARD! The Chieftan is like a class A/Cathode biased Marshall 50 watt plexi with tube driven spring reverb! How could it it better than that? Lew

I forgot to ask you.....if you had to choose between the Chieftain and SC-30, which one would you keep?

Also, I noticed you said something in a thread about using a Deluxe Reverb with your new gig.

I like the Chieftan best. I've been rehearsing with my Deluxe Reverb but we're just working on arrangements and vocal rehearsals at this point. When we start to crank it up I'll be using the Chieftan. I'd like to use both Matchless amps in stereo eventually, but that might be to loud. Between the two though, I really like the Chieftan...the fact that it's a cathode biased amp and a Marshall plexi is not, and that the Chieftan has reverb, just makes it even more usuable for me than any Marshall I've evr owned. Lew

Yeah, the Chieftain is hard to top. One thing I've never done (hard to believe) is plug my Chieftain's 16 ohm output into my Bogner 4-12! Duh!!! How could I be so dense? I'll bet it sounds better than a plexi, plus it has reverb.

I have a Matchless 2 x 12 bottem (DC-30 sized) that I can't decide what speakers to put in. I was thinking I'd put a pair of old Vox G12 Alnicos in there so I get my SC-30 to sound more like a Vox AC 30...but I'm also thinking I'd like to try a G1230 and Vintage 30 too! I'll probably go for the G12 alnico though...I have a nice early 60's pair with the original cones.

I like your John Lennon signature BTW...bright guy!
