I've noticed that whenver I play my Flextone II with the master volume louder than 4, I get a lot of hollow-sounding feedback (doesnt matter if I'm close to the amp or not) and a very ugly-sounding, quot;WHARMPFFquot; sound about 1/2 a second after palm-muting a chord. Is the speaker f-ed up? I took it out and looked at it... doesnt look like it is. Would a new speaker fix this problem or is this just par for the course for a 60W Flextone II on 4?

I dunno man, I got the same kinda problem with my Flextone I. I've been thinkin bout gettin a replacement speaker, but since I dont play it too often thats pretty far down on my quot;to doquot; list .

There was a time when Line 6 switched out the Emineince and went to a custom Celestion on the Flex II series. I don't remember the look of each right now. They might be posted in the FAQTRAQ support section on the Line 6 site. They do offer those Celestions if you need then at a decent price. Might be $50 each, but not sure.

When I had my Flex I HD and used their 212 cab I used a BBE 462 for a bit. WHen I swapped out the speakers for some flat EQ'd Celestions I didn't need the BBE and it worked fine. Eminence has since come out with the modeling version which I hear is good, but can personally attest to it. I use a Genz Benz 2x12 GFlex with my Vetta and that was one of the best I had heard so far.

i think i have the same amp...the 60watt 1x12 flextone II? mine does that too at higher volumes. i've wanted to do a speaker upgrade to it for the longest time but just haven't gotten around to it.

I have a similar problem if I use my Spider over a certain volume. It sounds to me like a cabinet resonation when the bass frequencies are boosted, I always attributed it to the fact that the cabinet is really lightweight. My solution was to turn down when it happens, because it's God-awful loud at that point.

I would NOT call this a quot;high volumequot; problem. I have the amp at 4 and with this amp that will only BARELY make it above the drummer playing relatively lightly.
