Robben gets some cool tones on this - I see that he uses a 59 in the bridge and a PG in the neck on his signature model. Does anyone know what guitar he uses with jing chi - is it his sig. model or an LP? If its an LP, does anyone know what pups he has it loaded with? Great tones, love the opening track. Anyone heard any of their other CDs?

Which signature model are you talking about? His Baker or Fender.... I thought that he was using a JB/59n setup in his Baker...

I was talking about his Baker. I get the info off the SD site. Not sure if this is up to date:

Artist:Robben Ford
Band:Yellow Jackets, Blue Line, Ford Blues Band
Instrument:Fender Signature Strat has SH-4 amp; SH-1n, Baker signature model has SH-1b, SHPG-1n, his Baker Crucible has SM-2namp;b
Pickups:SH-1b, SHPG-1n, SM-2n, SM-2b

I've been reading up on the Robben Ford forum and it looks like his R9 maybe loaded with '57 classics. However, there were some posts saying he was useing burstbucker 2s and 3s. Hmmmmmm....

I have seen where his first Baker had a pair of 59's in it but he wanted a bit more umph in the bridge pickup. His Fender signatures, which were the old Master Series Esprit models from the early 80's, had a JB/59n combo. I'll do some looking too.

Jing chi 3d was before he bought his current LP. I think he was using either the Baker Pg/59 or the Crucible (can't remember...).

On his recordings Robben may use a variety of guitars, ES335 - Fender Custom RF model, Baker BC1. I don't think Robben does much modding of his instruments, I was at a seminar he puts on in Ojai last year (very small group) and he has a very simplistic approach to his equipment - he likes to plug it in and play, not overly technical. He had his new 59' reissue at the seminar, it was stock and since it was only a year ago I assume it's got bursbuckers in it. If you want a ton of info on his equipment you can check out the forum on his website, his tech actually gets on and answers quite a few of exactly the same kind of questions your asking.

Yep, I just joined yesterday. I believe I read where his R9 came with 57 Classics but he switched them for BurstBuckers.

Wow...Robben's one of my favorite guitarists and he uses the same two humbuckers I do in my two humbucker Strat. Didn't know that. Thanks for the info! Lew
