Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone here knew what the guitarist from Los Lonely Boys is using for a rig? I have some idea but I'm not exactly sure. Any help would be much appreciated.

A recent issue of Guitar Player or Guitar One lists his current setup -- either the GP with Sir Paul McC on the cover or the G1 with Malakian (sp?) on the cover.

He plays Fender Strats through various Fender tube amps. I think I saw him with a Twin Reverb RI or something of the sort in the newest Fender catalogue. Not sure if he's running any pedals into the amps, but it sounds like a Fender amp pushed hard to me.

He plays all stock MIM strats except one that's got SD lipsticks!!!

MIM Strats, one with SD lipsticks
Marshall JCM 2000 DSL's (with Fender reverb unit)
Fender Twins with Jensen speakers (running into the vibrato channel)
Vox wah and Ibanez TS-808

I think on the DVD, he had a Fender CS 60's NOS strat into a Marshall DSL.

Currently, Garza is dealing with a Fender Strat strung with a hefty set of D’Addario .012s. “When I began playing, I actually used .008s,” he says. “But I worked my way up through .009s, .010s, and .011s, like a weightlifter training his body.”

To round out his rig, Garza plugs into an Ibanez TS-9 Tube Screamer, a Vox wah, finally ending at a Marshall JCM2000 plugged into a Celestion-loaded Bogner 2x12 and a Fender Twin Reverb reissue.

His MIM 60's reissue strats have had refrets too.... they slightly reradiused the boards flatter and used 6100 frets.....

Those DSLs have some pretty damn good tone. So does he primarily use MIM Strats or CS/American Strats? Oh man, I can't even imagine using strings that heavy. I used to string my Dean EVO with 11s but I am so used to 9s now on my Ibanezes. I need to get my hands on a used MIM Strat and dig into the blues a little bit more. I love the pish/pull on my JS1000BP, but it still isn't that Strat tone.

The latest issue of Guitar One says they are all MiM Strats with stock pickups (except for one with SD lipstick Strat pickups), although two of them look like they sport aftermarket necks judging from the headstocks. He uses two Fender Twins with Jensens for clean and two Marshall JCM2000's (with a third spare) through Tone Tubby 4x12 cabs (with a Fender reverb unit). His only pedals are a Vox wah (chrome and black) and a TS-808.

ive seen them 3 times......every time he had the mim strats with a DSL through an oversized Bogner 2x12, and a Twin Reverb reissue...and a vox wah and tubescreamer..at one of the shows, the DSL died and he had to use the Twin (was there for backup) and his sound didnt change much
