Hey guys... I have noticed several covers being hosted by Soundlick, yet they expressely forbid such covers, only original material unless you have copyright permission... Is this just a legal notice they don't enforce?
I have been trying to get really familiar with recording before I start trying to lay down original tracks... I am a perfectionist, and would scrap a cool song simply because I couldnt get the mix right.... Anyway, I have a few covers completed, and would like to get some second opinions from fellow musicians, but seem to be without a host site...
Anyone who can provide some input to this, I owe you a cold galss of Killian's...
Thanks,
Allen
I posted a cover and just didn't call it by the full name. I haven't had any problems. I see plenty of other covers on there.

Yeah, I'll try that...
Nevermind, It uploaded then rejected... How can I transfer a file type from WMA to MP3?
ive posted covers on soundclick my self....just when i type in the song name i state that its a cover and who its by. i think the rule applies to people who put covers up and try to call it their own.
as for converting wmv to mp3 you can probably download a converter somewhere on the internet...or try using a mixing program that allows you to save as mp3
i had the opportunity to mixdown to mp3, but chose not too... Once I mixed it down, I deleted the track files, so I am stuck with this version and file type... I will NEVER do that again, because I can hear all sorts of mistakes after having listened to it 1000's of times... lol
I'll try to find a converter online, thanks for the feedback!

np.....haha man i dont think thats its possible to actually get something perfect because there are always things that can be improved.
That is definitely true!! One of the songs, I can hardly stand to listedn to becuase it is chocked full of mistakes, recording/mixing mistakes rather than playing... But since I accidentally scrapped the tracks, it stays where it is... Oh well, that is a learning point!
i posted covers up, and then like 2 months later they figured it out at suspended my account until i removed to cover songs...so you might wanna wait and see what they do about the songs
I think I'll do that!!!

It doesn't actually matter whether you say who the tracks by always. Most big records won't even allow you to sing/play along with the tracks technically just to stop anybody nicking their record.
