wierd, not a muff in sight

love the second guitar from the right, though

it takes all that to sound so bad?!?

good god. I agree with the Fire Inventer. I dont think he sounds bad per say, as tone is suck a personal thing, but I hear nothing in his tone that should involve all this crap! Must be nice to have roadies and techs to deal with this stuff. I have a hard enough time lugging my tele, combo amp, and two pedals to the gig!

Hmmmm someones been stealing threads off HC.......

With all that crap he's got, you think he might actually have some tone.....HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Billy Corgan have tone?!?!?! I didn't think I could say that with a strait face!

I've heard Diezel's are very unforgiving amps, so that's certainly not helping.

dude, he's got 2 30 watt solid state crates up there.

This is way later in their career, when he was experimenting and making all those weird and superlayered sounds.

Earlier, he just used the strat, the muff, and the marshall.

Those crates were used as monitors for the guitar tech, btw.

I kind of like some of his tones.

it surprised me ... maybe it's even harder to get a _really_ bad sound than a real good one???

that's actually a thought. it really is, since gear is designed to sound good :-p

wtf? corgans tones are absolutely awesome!
The fuzz on Zero, the clean out of phase sounds on cherub rock, 1979... all of the first three albums! The crazy industrial fuzzed up sounds on the leater stuff.

I cannot beleive you guys are dissing Corgans tone... it rocks.

Cheers for the pics man, I better start saving.

Billys tone isnt so much about the guitar as it is about the noise itself. Most of his best stuff doesnt sound quot;normalquot; but still, in its own way, sounds awsome. Its a matter of what you go into it expecting.

And at the end of the day, its still better than the average noise that came out of everyone else's guitars when they were comming up.

Meh, I haven't ever been a fan of his tones.

I agree. His tone is way different than what anyones else was doing at that time. Its still very unique and hard to duplicate. Even the songs were unique in their own way. They didn't sound like anyone else, and no one has sounded like them since.
