I sold a few guitars and decided to take a shot at an Edwards les paul. i got a brand new satin purple one shipped from japan and....it was one of the best guitar purchases EVER!! this thing is AMAZING. the finish quality, the fretwork, the binding (no paint bleed or anything) the ebony is BLACK not steaky. it weighs in under 9lbs, the neck is comfortable as can be (similar to a 60s les paul style) the neck is also real fast feeling with the satin finish. it's just an all around amazing guitar. the attention to detail on his guitar blows away a bunch of the new gibson les pauls i have played (keep in mind i just bought a '99 les paul standard also so i'm not bashing just being honest.) i was never real big on the emg 81s (the 85s are cool by me though) but in this guitar they actually sound pretty damn good. i'm going to try it at rehersal this week to see how i like it a full gig volume before i decide if a swap to 85s is needed.

anyway, it's an amazing guitar and for anyone looking to buy a les pual, don't hesitate a second to buy an edwards over a gibson (i own 2 gibson les pauls now and have owned others in the past so i'm not bias, just telling the truth).-Mike

i got it from a guy who sells tons of edwards japan only guitars on ebay and will ship anywhere in the world. check ebay for prices and other models.

Once again with the perfect lighting. There's some guy that sells 'em on ebay. Haha, my dad took a whole bunch of money out of one of my stocks because it was killing my financial aid and I was like...what should I do with it and actually was considering that but I dunno...I like trapezoids a lot better. I think an urban camo Viper or M-II would be more my style but I dunno, lol, I don't know how much he took out either.

Ah, found it on eBay. Man, pricey.

D-EJ915: if your going to buy a guitar with that cash and are looking at a les paul like guitar DO NOT let the inlays stop you. get an edwards either this model or another one. i own alot of guitars and have owned more than i can remember and i can honestly say this is certainly an A guitar!

Lee: put that price up against a similar gibson (in this case a custom) and this is a far better deal and just as good if not better IMO. the guitar is PERFECT and plays amazingly. i took it out of the box and tuned the strings and it had a perfect setup, no other adjustment was needed. i was amazed at that. plus it got to me from japan in like 3 days. it takes UPS longer to get a guitar from Cali to me in NY than that.

go listen to some of zakk wylde's stuff with BLS or OZZY that will give you the idea hehehe.

I'm very familar with Zakk's sound. But he also uses ridiculously thick strings, plays through IMO an odd setup, and his Les Pauls are as thick as an acoustic.

His low strings are heavy (the top 3 are from a 10 set).
What's odd about a couple pedals an a JCM800?
LP Customs aren't any thicker than Standards.

what is the deal with edwards? I've never heard of them - they seem to be a line of esp - can anyone fill me in? That is one of the nicer les pauls I've seen.

I think Edwards is a division of ESP or something like that. I've heard tons of great reports on the Edwards stuff. Cool guitar, looks like real quality.

Steve: what japanese LP did you get?

DSS: yup, good ol' ebay Edwards does make 7 strings i think. but not les pual shaped as far as i know.

UCSDBoy: Edwards is just a japanese only division of ESP guitars. they are not sold in the USA. thus why i had to have mine shipped from japan to me. it's also one of the nicest playing les puals IMO. i love this guitar!

Scott: send me a PM and we can try and meet at Cris shop sometime and i'll bring it along. i think you may really like it (aside from the EMGs that is hehe)
