The bridge is defective and eated up to trem arm. Thank God Kurt at Rondo Music as an amazing after-sale service.
Not a big deal, really, I just took a chance. But seriously, no $99, even made in China, can be good. This was wishful thinking.
I'm just posting this in case some other bro's been thinking the same way I did: I have nothing to loose for the money. You DO have somehting to loose. Your precious time.
Get an Agile if you're on a budget. There're more expensive but they really worth it. Better than Epiphone twice the price. And I had 4 Epi's so I know what I'm talking about.
I like my SX bass though, probably because I'm not a bass player and I don't give a damn.
Ok, I know Agile's are good guitars but enough of the Epiphone bashing.
It's no bashing. It's facts. I had 4 Epiphones and I had to change the toggle switch on the 4 of them. Three out of four of them had a pots died on me.
All that for guitars that cost me more than 500 $CA, and even more than 600$CA for a Custom. The Agile have rock solid electronics for 340 $CA. And the wood is just as good.
I didn't say Epi's are bad. Just too higly priced because they bare the Gibson name. That's all.
I would actually buy another Epi. Dots are great. Sheraton are great. But too pricy.
It's a shame to sell a guitar more than 500$ with a half-dead switch on it. Maybe they changed over time. But this was no accident. It happended to me 4 times.
Sorry to hear that. What years were they and where were they made?
The switch in mine is still going strong and I'm pretty rough on 'em. I did have to replace the bridge volume pot this past weekend and I expected I would have to at some point. I can rewire 'em no problem so it doesn't bother me that much.
I will agree the electronics aren't the greatest but the quality of the guitar overall has gotten better over time, moreso since they started making them in the China factory. I've noticed more consistantly well built guitars coming from there.
The Agiles are nice except I don't like the horn. It just looks funny to me.
Hey Sly, Another budget minded guitar to check out is the Samick Greg Bennett series. I own 3 of em' and I couldn't be happier with them.
I did change all the electronic's in them Because Like Epi ,IMO I find the
electronic's substandard. Some Duncan's,CTS pots and a switchcraft
jack and you got yourself a very gigable guitar.
I too have had issues with the Epi LP toggle switch, so it's not just you.

Man, sometimes, I think you must be some kind of American clone of mine . You have a very similar playing style and seam to have somewhat the same tastes. I almost bought a Samick Greg Bennet series. I finally opted for another Epi Dot and was not too satisfied. I'll certainly consider these again.
I'm not a brand snob, so I consider guitars for what they are. I can't justify buying a 2,000 guitar.
Electronics is the #1 economy company makes, which is strange, because I would think wood is a lot more expansive than lead or pots. Go figure. Maybe there's a lot of cheap trees in Asia

You Crack me Up ! I love my Low budget axe's. I do own 2 Vintage Gibby's,
But I get more use from my Goofy Samick's. I was on a 335 hunt a few years
ago.( No way I could drop 2 grand on the real thing ) I tried every
Semi hollow I could under a grand. The Gem of the bunch was a Samick SAN-450 for $200 used. I've got a 59' in the bridge and AP2 neck. It sounds and
play's SWEET! If your ever in N.Y. let me know. We'll have to have a few
cold ones.
Sure do man!
