Hello:
I am replacing the pickups in a new ash HSS strat with
rosewood fingerboard.
It has two tex mex in neck and middle and diamondback
humbucker in bridge. Find that tone is too bright and
attack too harsh for my type of playing. I play clean tones
mostly country. Looking for a mellower, softer tone.
Had a Korean lite swamp ash, maple finger board strat
with APS1 in neck and APS1 rwrp in bridge. Found I liked
this sound better than my new American but less guitars
forced me to trade up to Better one.(wifes decision)
I am putting APS2 in neck and APS2 rwrp in middle of
new strat but am not sure which humbucker.SH15 custom 5
seems interesting. Please advise.
With APS-2 single coils the Custom Custom Trembucker would be nice. If you want vintage output that would better match the output of the APS-2 single coils and also give you a little more twang for your country licks, the 59B Trembucker or maybe even the Pearly Gates Trembucker might be nice too. I use the 59 Trembucker in my Strats...love it. But since you're trying to get away from a tone that you feel is to bright, I'd think the Custom Custom and APS-2 combo would be a good fit for you.
