Hey guys and gals,

I am doing some last minute research before I commit to a setup consisting of Sperzel Tuners, an LSR Roller nut, and a Wilkinson Trem. I borrowed a gold Wilkinson some time ago and played it for a few weeks. The end result was a near perfect compromise between fulcrum style trems and OFR trems. Now thatI am ready to purchase one, I have found several different models. Can anyone with the knowledge explain/recommend the diferences between the models. I understand that one of the features available are string locks to keep the strings from becoming misaligned during the release of a full dive bomb.

These are the models I have found so far....

Warmoth only offers one model in three different finishies...

from : localhost/offers many different styles, but I was more interested in the Wilkinson Licensed VS100G and the VG 300.

from : localhost/information and recommendations you may provide will be sincerely appreciated!

Thanks in advance,
Allen

I have the one Warmoth sells on a few strats. It's very well made and sounds good.
I don't know a thing about the other ones.

The VS200G looks just like the one I bought from Warmoth. Great tremelo bridge! The saddles lock down after you intonate, making the bridge like one solid unit. The strings do not get locked down. The tension on the tremelo arm is very adjustable so you can get it just as easy (or hard) to swing around as you want, and maintain it over time as the bushing loosens up.

Why are you going for an LSR roller nut? Sperzels amp; a GraphTec nut work fine for me, but I'm not doing monster dive bombs or playing metal either. Forgive me, but a metal nut just seems like it would be bright and not give the best tone transfer because of the mechanics of the rollers. JMHO.

Thanks for the feedback guys. That helps! AS far as the LSR goes, I havent tried ANY nuts other than those included in the stock necks of any guitars I may own. My choice would be based on someone elses opinions, so this offers me a chance to hear and feel on my own. If I dont like it for whatever reason, then I can have an excuse to by the neck I want! LOL!! Besides, I am a gear junky!!

I'll keep ya posted on my current project!

Thanks again,
Allen

I had the one carvin sells. Very nice:

The VS100 is the 2 point fulcrum model the Warmoth sells. It#8217;s the most stable of the Wilkinson trems I#8217;ve used.

I can#8217;t get the link to work, maybe they are updating or something, but I#8217;m not sure what the VS100G is unless the G is a finish designation. I do know that the 300 model is a 100 block with the VSVG saddles. It may be a result of the entire system, but I think the VS100 series saddles are probably a little better in the stability department, and are certainly easier to intonate than the VSVG saddles. On all models the saddles lock down with a set screw after intonation.

I agree with Fresh Start. I don't think you need an LSR nut, just the Wilkinson and Sperzels should be fine, but I also don't do dive bombs.

the problem with the LSR is that I believe it has a wider slot, so you are stuck with that, whereas with a regular size slot you can try different materials for the nut. just IMHO.
