hey,
Just installed a JB jr in the bridge ofa cheap (so cheap it has no brand name anywhere on it). Playing through my mesa rocket 44 its still sounds pretty cool.
My plan is to use the strat as a back up, and use my tele mostly. On the tele I exclusively use a duncan designed detonator in the neck. Trouble I find is when I need to change my guitar (broken string etc) I gotta mess around my EQ to get back to my sound, which is ofcourse to be expected.
So I don't have to fiddle with my amp, can I mount the JB jr in the bridge and connect it to the middle position on the switch? that way I get a tone control on the bridge. Obviously middle setting is actually bridge, but I'm only gonna use the JB jr as the stock pickups are horribly noisy and I can afford anything else right now!
Any thoughts if this is good/bad solution?
if you want a tone control on the bridge pup, just run a little jumper on the switch so the bridge and middle pups both share the same tone. you could switch the bridge pup to the middle position on the switch but i think just attaching a wire to get a tone control makes more sense
Dang it, Jeremy! I was going to say that.
You should be able to find a wiring schematic for it without too much trouble if you're uneasy about it. It's pretty common to wire them that way nowdays.
