just got myself a knew spankin les paul.
its gotta have a duncan in the neck, kinda like a paf 59,with slightly less bass and highs, clean great for jazz and blues, and dirty all out tone to the bone just like an old PAF would.
how about the pearly gates neck or the jazz?
im after sounds of the stock gibson 490 but with duncan clarity.

do the alnico 2´s sound darker than the alnico v´s ?

If you want a '59 type of pickup for the neck with Duncan clarity, I would suggest the Jazz (that would be my first choice) or the '59.

thnaks man but i hate the 59,so im avoiding the jazz as well.
i was gonna put in gibson classic 57´s but wanted to hear from you of a duncan alternative.
seths maybe?

A '59 with better clarity but a more balanced sound? Sounds like a Bare Knuckle 'Mule' with Alnico IV. I have a set in my axe (the one in my avatar), it's a real tone machine.

where can i order the bare knuckles from USA?
i thought of those mulé´s actually.

Before I suggest another pickup, what do you hate about the '59? I happen to have a love/hate thing going on with the '59 myself.

They only have one dealer in the US (Guitar Cellar, Boulder, Colorado), so ordering directly at their on-line shop might be the easiest way. If I were you, I'd write or call Tim Mills (the guy who's making the pups) for more info on ordering, which pickup to choose, optional specs etc. so that you can decide whether you need such a pickup or not. You find contact info here: from : localhost/www.bareknucklepickups.co.uk/contact.html

i loved the clean sounds in the neck on my washburn idol guitar.but dirty it turned to mush on hi gain settings, with too much high end and boomy bass.
sounded too dam texas sounding to me even thow i tuned to D.

anyway im almost sure on the seth for the neck.
should i get it with or without a nickel cover? does it make any diference?
do they come wax potted?

The Seth is a great pickup. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

I think all Seths come covered. Buy it covered and take the cover off if you want one uncovered. Some find a little surprise underneath

They're not potted, but I don't think you'll find any feedback problems.
