Hi, i was plaining on a custum guitar and i thought about those pups: JB, Distortion, Invader. i listened to the sample there are on the site and after i decided: invader ok distortion but ****ty clean, so this fall out.

now i don't know if JB or Distortion, Jb have better clean and the Distortion is bit better on distortion.

my style goes from metal to alternative rock.

what do you think about those pups and was you suggest the better for my needs.

So Metal to Alt Rock, what amp do you play and what guitar are you playing? I don't recommend an invader, imo its always been too muddy. The JB will suit you well for the styles your playing. I didn't like the Distortion in my Hamer Monaco, it had really tight bass, but the highs were too piercing and I just didn't like the overall tone. The JB is much sweeter, and has a nice crunchy sound when distorted.

see my signature for gear, however my amp is a Brunetti XL Revo and guitar i have a fender strato w/ Seymourduncan and one dimarzio pickup

the idea is a guitar with 2HB in bridge and middle position (stephen carpenter docet!), i thought about 2 JB or 2 distortion, or JB Distortion mix

I used to play with an all cover band and we went from heavy metal/hardrock type music to alt. rock to even some songs with acoustic parts. I used the Duncan Distortion in my lespaul's bridge and never had any problems getting tones for any of those styles.

But 1 thing.. if your really picky about the cleans, then i'd stay away from the Distortion. Dont get me wrong, it does cleans well, but not pure pure cleans. they may have some breakup.. i guess i should say its responsive to your picking. the harder you pick, the more breakup in your cleans you'll have.

Give it a try and see if you like it.. you can always re-sell it if you dont like it.Good luck

Personally i would take the JB, but really depends on what your custom axe will be made out of too.
JB does great for cleans as well as distortion.
But i guess for real kicks when playin mostly hard/heavy stuff the DD might be good

I would choose the JB over the distortion.

But having an Invader (which I LOVE) so honestly I think if you were gonna make a guitar similar to steven carpenters, I don't think it would hurt to have an Invader in there for some SIC metal... and another pickup next to it for cleans...

anyway, the JB Rocks!

ok for wood the guitar would be mahogany body with macassar top, maple neck and ebony fingerboard.
