Would you get a Fender Hot rod deluxe(1x12), or would you get a peavey classic 50/2x12?
Given you could get either for pretty much the same price.
Also, which will take distortion pedals the best? Im just wanting a great solid tube amp for running pedals into, that will be loud and have awesome tone.
Uh....if you're running a tube amp loud then you probably shouldn't be needing distortion pedals.
With that said I would go with the Peavey. I've owned (and still do) a HotRod Deluxe and a Classic 30. I felt the Classic was head and shoulders a better amp.
I mostly still have the HotRod because I haven't been unable to unload it yet. No one seems to want it. The Peavey Classic went within a week of me deciding to sell it.
Elderly is selling a classic 50 for $498 right now and I can get a HRD for $475 used right now. So im torn.
The peavey is new I guess.
Hot Rods are pretty loud. Never played a Classic 30
Im talking about a classic 50 2x12
I'd get the Peavey, and then change the speakers to Celestion Vin 30/H30. The Classic 50 is probably the best tone you can get for moderate dollars.
If I get this, im prolly going to be in debt for a few months, So, im willing to do it as long as its one of the best amps under $500.
I have owned a hot rod deluxe and played a classic 50 on several occasions. I like the Peavey more. I like the distortion more, and it's nice to have the 2 12s.
