I want to get a natural colored les paul but i'm not sure if the different woods will make some sort of difference in tone/sustain. Does anyone know?

of corse body woods make a difference in tone and sustain, if you plan on getting a les paul, you dont have to worry about sustain, those guitars have sustain galore

i know they do, i meant what is the difference?
do they sound brighter? Darker?

IMO the Swamp ash Pauls (SAS Voodoo) sound like crap...

My specific gripes: I find the high end TOO sharp, the bottom is too tight without enough girth... jus doesnt sound like a Les Paul to me.... IMO an Alder Epiphone comes closer...

does anyone know if there are any other les pauls that come with that natural wood color. it just looks so nice.

You can get normal Les Pauls finished in Natural I think..

Now I know... And I NEED one of those....

I have a Swamp Ash Les Paul that I bought in July, 2004. It's my first LP so I really can't compare it to others. I bought it because of all the LP's I tried this one felt the best in my hands. Like a lot of people I did change the stock pickups. There was something about the upper mids in the bridge pickup that were ear-grinding and the neck pickup was to dark. I'm using a Dimarzio Virtual PAF in the neck and a Dimarzio Air Classic in the bridge. I'm very happy with it. The guitar/pickups seems to have just the right combination of lows, mids and highs.
