I can't decide on which Humbucker to get. I guess Green Day uses the Jeff Beck (JB-4) for a high output sound. Apparently the JB sounds great with lead. How does it sound with rythm? With a Gibson or DiMarzio PAF pickup you get more of a vintage sound!?!? And Carvin makes a C22B pickup that is not vintage nor highoutput. Which pickup should i get?? I am plugging into a Fender Hot-Rod Deluxe. And I will be installing the pickup on a Strat.I play rock, rock'n'roll.. i dont want the distortion to be overkill but i do want crunch..thanks!

I would say the JB, but that's what I tell everyone. Don't listen to me.

The JB will rock lead or rhythm... Its definately not a quot;overkillquot; pickup but it is crunchy... as far as a gibson or dimarzio sounding more quot;vintagequot;... define quot;vintagequot;... personally I dont like the sound of Gibson pickups but thats purely personal opinion...

For AC/DC, I would go with a Seth or a 59. The Custom also does a good quot;hotquot; AC/DC, if you want a hotter pickup.

which do u prefer? which is good for both rock'n'roll (vintage sounding) and modern rock (green day)?

SH-14 Custom 5 , SH-11 Custom Custom, or SH-5 Duncan Custom

Of the pups you listed for that Greenday sound or classic rock, I'd go with either the Custom or the C-5. I use the Custom in a couple of solid body mahogany axes and it sounds great to me. Load that up with a 59 or PG in the neck and you got some good rockin' tones all the way around....IMHO.

The Custom 5 is the most versatile of the hotter humbuckers. If it's AC/DC or Van Halen type tone you want, the C-5 does it really well. Basically, a 59 with more balls.

Personally, I'd rather hear a 59 or C-5 plugged into a Hotrod Deluxe than most others you mentioned........and I even like all those others you mentioned.

If it were going in a Mahogany guitar, id say the JB. In an alder strat, I'd go with a PAF type pup (I like the '59 or Seth).

If you like Green Days tone, go with the JB. My favorite Duncan for rhythm and lead.

If you like the vintage type of tone I wouldn't go for the JB. That has the more 80's type of distortion. If you have standard single coils in you strat I would recomend to go for a medium output humbucker. In this case the difference in output better the SC and the HB won't be too much. If you have hight output pickups in the neck and middle may be a hight output bucker would be better.

So for a medium output a 59 would be amazing it has great cleans and great distortion... I am not a big fan of hight output hence I haven't tried many (except the JB) but someone suggested the C5...

well after reading about the C5 and the 59.. The C5 is supposed to be more trebely.. (maybe too much) The 59 supposedly has more output than a PAF.. but you still get a warm, yet fat sound... am i correct?

Not exactly, the 59' it supposed to be a exact replica of a 59' Gibson PAF. The C5 it is supposed to be a 59' with more output.

That is right, but the C-5 isn't a PAF, but it's somewhat like to achieve a PAF-tone in a medium/high output pickup.
The '59 is a low-output pickup. And it is warm and fat - fatter than some higher output pickups!
Basically the SH-5, SH-11 and SH-14 are the same pickups, only with different magnets!

Just stay away from Carvin pickups. There's a reason they're so cheap... they suck.

i did get the JB and its awesome
