I know one of the Antiquities (I or II) are wound the opposite of regular Duncans.
Anyone know the answer? I want to try Antiquity II tele pickups, but I'm afraid the neck won't jive with all the others like JD's, Broadcasters, 5/2's, etc, if I decide to swap out the bridge.
bump.
Isn't it just switching the wires around? Maybe someone who has the Surfer/Surfer/Texas in a Strat can help you. I had an Ant II Firebird and and Ant I in a Tele and it was no problem.
I'm not sure I thought both Antiquities were wound different than stock. I know for a fact that the Antiquity I's are wound opposite of stock Fender pups. I bought a neck Antiquity Texas hot for my USA strat and when I installed it, it was out of phase. It just gave me an excuse to buy the whole set, and I did.
I believe Lew or John will know. I seem to remember that they paired Antiquity II's with a Twangbanger or something like that.
I just got some Ant II Tele and Ant II Surfer pickups in. I held the polepieces of the Antiquity II Tele neck pickup against the polepieces of the Antquity II Surfer neck pickup and found that they were attracted.
That means they are reverse magnetic polarity.
Don't know if they are also reverse wound, but my guess would be: probably!
My Antiquity II Tele lead pickups were backordered. I should have them shortly though.

When I mix a Ant I Texas Hot Custom Bridge pickup with Ant II Surfers neck and RW/RP middle pickups, I have to reverse the positions of the neck and middle Surfers and use the middle as a neck pickup but wire them normally: black to ground. However the Ant I Texas Hot Custom Bridge pickup does get the black and white reversed: white to ground.
If I do that, all three will be in phase and I will have humcancelling in the #2 and #4 5 way switch positions.

Gearjoneser: I think you'll be OK. I just unpacked a new Jerry Donahue and compared it to an Antiquity II neck pickup. It appears to be RW/RP to the Antiquity neck, which is what you want. They are attracted together and the black and white wires are reversed the way they would be in a normal Tele set with one pickup RW/RP for humcancelling when the two are combined. My guess is they will work fine together when wired in your guitar normally: black to ground and white to hot. That's just a guess though!

That is interesting. I have a JD and an Antiquity I Tele neck PU in my guitar, they are NOT humcanceling when in phase. The Fender American standadr that I replaced it with was, though.
No matter, the Antiquity sounds better.

Are SD singles wound the same as Antiquity I's or II's?
