How would this work? Cool rails neck and middle with a hot bridge bucker in a Kramer Focus 6000. Ive never used cool rails but always heard good things. Was gonna go hot rails in the neck but based on a post about that one, I think that may be too much. What can I expect with the cool Rails? Thanks!

Punch! As someone pointed out in another thread, I love using that term to describe them. I have three in my Strat. (Temporarily displaced.) The CR's just seem to have a unique personality that I love. Its not quot;traditionalquot; Strat, but its good Strat. quot;Spankquot; is another good term to describe them. I think you'll like 'em.

btw - Mine are sitting on a shelf at the moment. Wanna borrow one or two?

If you're going to use your neck for nothing but single note solos, and want a thick lead tone, go with the Hot Rails......If you want to use it for rhythm, make sure you have a pullup knob or miniswitch to split it.

That said, I still like the Cool Rails better, as an all around single sized neck pickup, to mate with a humbucker. If it's an HSS, I'd probably just go with 2 Cool Rails, instead of mixing it with something else. Those pickups should really be able to be split though, because they're much more useable for rhythm that way. For soloing, they sound great in full mode.

I have a cool rails in the neck and a hot rails in the middle of my Peavey. I got them with the idea of trying it both ways and using the setup I liked best. I tried it this way first and never felt the need to try it the other way. I'm a big fan of the cool rails in the neck.

I'm a huge fan of the CRn. Such a great voice for leading. I think it's a nice smooth and creamy pickup that isn't at all harsh. It's never coming out of my HSS strat. Works well in both high gain and clean situations. I've never split mine, but I've also been more than happy with how they sound for clean chording (since I never play dirty rhythms on the neck anyway).

yeah, it's so much better if you split those types of pickups, if you want to use them for a more traditional strat rhythm tone. In full mode, they were intended mostly for soloing, to sound like a humbucker.

Sounds like the cool rails is what Im after. gonna be Lawrence xl500, cool rails, cool rails. Think that would do the trick?

I've got the cool rails in the neck and surpised that sounds about as hot as the JB on the bridge- Have discussed this before and think it's just becuase the stings have more travel at the neck-

Agreed with Artie- Not an exact strat, but spanky and can get quacky in combination. Also a superb pup for spinasplit-
