Hello Pete...
Hey buddy,I'm making a Jazz/59n Hybrid for Jumpmarine and myself...As you know,I currently have a 59B/C Hybrid with the A2 magnet in the bridge of my Les Paul and it's still the pickup that belongs there...
Regarding the Jazz/59N Hybrid though? Should I go with A2 or A5 up there?
The 59N with it's stock A5 was very woofy and the A4 magnet fixed the problem for me totally...I'm pretty happy with the 59N A4,but I was willing to try the second hybrid under your recommendation....Sorry for the long winded post.....
Basically again Pete....A2 or A5 for the Jazz/59 N Hybrid? Thanks again from myself and Ryan(Jumpmarine)...
Jumpmarine.....Please follow and chime in on this post so I know what magnet to stick in your Hybrid N pickup!
You will just have to experiment to nail exactly what works for you...
With the JAZZ coil in the equation you will lose much of the woof of a stock 59... also, the mis-matched coils will bring in more clarity in the lows and highs with a more complex amp; harmonic midrange like a true vintage PAF
If you were happy with the A4, that might just be the ticket!

Wow! Thanks for the quick post Pete! So you're leaning towards A4 or A5 up there? I like note articulation(always) strong lows, but not woofy lows, decent chimey highs, and the basic eq of a stock 59N pickup...Are we on track? Since I'm dealing with a cover,I guess I'm hoping to nail it on the first shot!
I have to agree with the A5, the eq of the Jazz coil should take care of the woofiness problem.

That'll work then because I have quite a few A5 magnets,1 A4,and only 2 A2 magnets....So we'll go A5 in both pickups...Stock the Jazz N is A2 though right? I've never used this pickup?
stock Jazz is an A5
Stock is A5
If you go with the A2 you may lose the chimey highs that you like...
Remember though... when you have the mismatched coils you will get an extented and clearer treble and more articulation in the lows, so you might actually like the softer attack and midrange response of the A2.
