Do you ever pick up a guitar one night and you think, man, I'm selling this thing. Then you put it down for a few nights and you pick it back up and it rocks?

God I hate that...

All the time with new stuff. I think it's called 'moods'.

Amen.

I do quite a bit with my Danelectro. If I try to be objective about it then it's kind of a crappy guitar, but sometimes it just feels right. If I get a little gain happy and just want something to bash away on for a bit then the Dano is much more satisfying than my Epi.

On the otherhand, when I want to (try and) play music I don't even think about touching it. It comes out about oncew every 2 months for a bit of mindless fun.

I suppose I'm married to my Epi but my Dano is my mistress, for when things are stressed at 'home'! HA HA.

I have that problem with amp more than I do with guitars. With guitars its always a very gradual thing... with amps its like mood-swing city.

But I'm still selling my MESA.

Exactley. Nothing's worse than one day thinking your amps tone is finally there only to listen to it the next day and realize how awful it is.

happens all the time. I just put together my superstrat and I'm already thinking about parting it out and sellin it. Keepin it another week or so to see if it doesnt grow on me.

soooo...you're liking that Godin LG again huh?!

PMS
Playability Mirage Syndrom we all have it.

Don't sell Scott. Same thing with the amp. The tone sounds great one day and the day after, crapy. It's our state of mind that decide.
Tried a Radial Tonebone British that sounded so good at the store and compared with my Jekyll amp; Hyde. I did realise how good the J amp; H sound. Same thing with the GT2 from Tech 21. It sounded great at the store and beside my J amp; H. I saw that my J amp; H is very good and that I didn't apprecate enough what I had but I'm sure you know all that cause I beleive that you're a better guitar player that I am. Keep your stuff.

My relationship with certain guitars is seemingly based on the weather. Some days they seem to play like butter- other days I’m in the mood to sell. Maybe it’s just cold fingers...
Put the guitar away for a while- and see how you feel about her in a day or two.

God I hate that... All the time. A good reason to have multiple amps, guitars, so you can cycle them.

The American Delxue v-neck strat with the locking tuners, schaller strap locks, 2 point trem, scn pups and the s-1 switching system played like butter for 2 hours last night. I was giving it one last chance before returning it. Now what?

neck didn't hurt my hand this time. Found that with the S-1 engaged, positions 4, 2 and 1 sounded absolutely KILLER. I think I'd like to put some Duncans in there, but I'm betting the S-1 wiring is a real beatch.

I've got a few more days to decide at this point.

Don't make any rash moves- I lost my favorite SG that way and now understand that humans are a lot more analog than we think- We are dealing with nearly state of the art gear and our bodies just aren't up to speed

Consider this..every notice how pitch changes when you yawn? Or how the high end is the first to go when you've got a cold- What about ear fatigue?

Bottom line, we just dont hear the same way from day to day- I had a week where I litterally could not tune a gutar by ear- I kept playing wiht the g and b string sand convinced my self that some how the intonation was off on all my gtrs- But is was fine the next week and I've learned to use the tuner whenever this happens-

Or to put it another way, walked out of the studio at 3am after one of the longest sessions of my life, absolutly convinced we would have to retrack the entire night- It just seemed horrible.

Producer called about 10am and said you gotta hear this and thought, yep we really mangled everything last night- But got there with fresh ears just before noon and was knocked out- Not just much better I thought it was, it turned out to be some of the best work we had ever done-

Moral to the story- Develop good friends in the sound booth who you can trust when they tell you that you are out of your mind, and make sure you bounce all gear decisoins off of them

I have a love/hate relationship with my Grosh Bent Top Custom. The feel and the tone are both amazing. The finish is what gets me; it's purple. It changes its shade in the lighting subtly, but it's purple. If it were a different color, there would be no problem with it, but some days I dig the purple and say I'll never sell it, other days I hate it and want to sell it for a different color. Right now I'm loving it, get back to me in a week

Oh cool, so next time my wife tells me I need to experience it just one, I can tell here I already do.

My LP pulled this on me the other night. I just kept playin' anyway and eventually it came around.

Scott, as a Strat lover, I highly advise you to keep it so as to avoid you spending any more money on Les Pauls.

Nope..but then again I only have one guitar. But she(havn't gotten a name for 'er yet) alwasys plays smothly.

It's already been said in this topic, but thats why we have multiple guitars, so we have something else to play if our mood changes.

I went through that with my PRS CU24. I finally sold it. More bad days then good I guess.
