Please help....

All i have is a red wire, a white wire, and a super FAT bare wire. The superfat bare wire is going to ground i think, as it is soldered onto the back of a pot. And both the red and white wires are connected to the pickup selector poles.

Im changing the Ibanez pup for a Dimarzio Breed, but what the heck do i solder... and to what?

I'm thinking of leaving the wires soldered where they are and just cutting them, and contecting the new pickup wires to them, as if i bugger up, i can always go back to how it was in effect. Plus im crap at soldering and last time on my strat, i took out a whole pickup selector (i busted it with some much molten solder it ceased).

Please help if you can.. im desperate lolKev

DMZ green will go to ground
DMZ black and white go together, and then to where the Ibby white was.
DMZ Red goes to Ibby red.

This sounds great Artie!!! so, both the black and white dimarzio wires solder together onto the old white Ibanez wire yes?

the rest sounds logical

have you operated on the horrors of ibanez wiring before then??? You sound pretty confident!

Yes to the first question. In fact, you don't need to connect them at all. Thats only if you want the original quot;splitquot; operation in one of the switch positions. (Still connect the DMZ black and white together however.)

No to the second question. Never actually done an Ibby before, but I've studied the diagrams so many times, I feel I know them intimately.

Haha, I have, and it was Artie who helped me out then...

You don't need to connect ANYTHING! Just throw that quot;deemarsioquot; out the window and buy yourself a !!
hi guys, i've just followed the instructions amp; would just like to say thanks for the help eariler! I followed your advice totally, this is what i did i dunno if its safe-

Ibanez red to dimarzio red
Ibanez white to dimarzio BLACK WHITE
Bare and green to ground (the same place)
and heres what happend:

I've actually got the breed working by itself, but what i failed to tell you, was that my Ibanez pickup schematics
has :

Humbucker Single Humbucker lol

Therefore, at the moment, my bridge pup works fine, poition 2 (bridge and middle pup) works fine, position 4 DOES NOT work, and the breed in the neck sounds a treat!

Any ideas how i solve the problem of poistion 4 not working?

Thanks again,

Kev

Thanks franken cat, but there is still the problem that the new bucker has different wires than the original!

If this helps to convey my problem, here is my guitar wire diagram:

am trying to make all the pup selections work , position 4 isnt working still.

bugger!!!!

Cheers, Kev

Kev; sorry about that. Ibby, unfortuately, goes back and forth between red and white for hot.
You need to do this:

DMZ red to Ibby white
DMZ black amp; white to Ibby red
DMZ green and bare to ground

Sorry about that. Its hard to keep up on all the Ibby diagrams.

The clean tone is the best i've ever heard from a bucker!!!

OMFG!!!! It doesnt EVER break up!!! Even over excessive treble amounts!

Thanks heaps!!! I owe you one man... dunno how, but i do!

AWESOME! And whats more, i never thought in my wildest dreams how much more output it would have and how it would piss over the other 2 current pups! This rocks!

HOORAH!

Excellent. A wire can make such a difference.

Hi Artie! I'm back lol

All the positions work, but after a nites play i think position 4 (neck middle pup) is out of phase- its all weak and thin when compared to the same position in the bridge and middle (position 2) !

Just this final correction to make everything full power now lol, we're almost there!

So which wires do i switch now lol?

Cheers again!!!

Kevin

If bridge and middle are ok, I'd reverse the hot and ground of the neck pickup first. Try that and see how it sounds. Are you still using some Ibby pups? They may be out-of-phase with the DMZ.

yes mate.

Im still using the other Ibby pickups. But hope to put a JB in the bridge soon.

I'll try reversing the wires you told me... dimarzio pickups arre red hot, and green ground yeh?!

cheers

Yes, DMZ is red/hot, green/ground. So, the DMZ is the one in the neck?
That makes sense then. It would be the one out-of-phase.

yep, dimarzio brreed in neck, trying to make it work with single coil in the middle

but position 4 is out of phase

Yup . . . reverse the DMZ red and green. That should do it.
