Does anyone have experience with this pup? How does it compare to a Hot Rails in the bridge?
It doesn't look like a mini-version of the Super Distortion, but I know nothing about DiMarzios at all. I was just under the impression that Single Coil versions are supposed to look like their Humbrothers (is that word?)
the Super Distortion S (strat) and Super Distortion T (telecaster) are singe coil sized humbuckers based off the Original Super Distortion humbucker.
They are new this year the only place that I know you can get them through is from : localhost/mikes-music-shop.com/ just email him, he has them in stock becuase I emailed him last week about these pickups.
I'll second that music shop....they've got TONS of Dimarzios in stock usually and anything(color or model) he doesn't have in stock he can get in something like two weeks. He's one of Dimarzios biggest dealers seems like.

First I heard of these, thanks for the link!
Never was a big fan of the Super Distortion model..... First pick up i bought was a Super.. I didn't like the fact they seem to lack bass. Now they make a strat size version? maybe even worse.. I loved a Dimarzio model called Double Wammy that they no longer make as it had huge bass responce... I heard that model is called something else now...

Last time I looked I think you could. I am fairly certain Dimarizo will still make one but, I dont think its part of their regualr pickup like. I think its a similar case with the Megadrive.

If not, Dimarzio still makes them and he can usually get them pretty quick. Any dealer can actually.
I am reviving this topic to see if there are any more opinions on it. I am seriously considering this pup.
Any opinions?

I agree, plenty of bass, very thick
They have/had a quot;Superquot; with less bass responce called the Super II. It's pretty toppy.
The Tone Zone has more bass responce, and sounds thicker to me, than the regular Super Distortion, but with better clarity up top. I never liked the Super D much, because it has a certian grittiness in the midrange, and a bit of harshness up top, at least to my ears. In my opinion, the TZ is the premier high output Dimarzio.
All the single coil size Dimarzio humbuckers seem to be double rail design. I do like the double rail look better than the look of the Lil 59, JB jr...ect...
Wasn't it the Double Whammy the pickup that eventually turned into the Tone Zone or at least sounds closest to that pickup? I recall reading something like that on Dimarzio but don't quote me.
I have a couple of ful-sized SD's, and I had a FastTrack2. The FT2 is wicked, clarity and power and smooth and in your face. A buddy of mine liked it and swapped me a neck Hotrails for it and we put the FT2 in his SSS Charvel and it SCREAMS.
Just my 2 cents... I'm a fan of the SD also. I can imagine that the Strat Sized one would sound good...
ODdly, the SDS-1 Single is made like half of a SD humbucker, but it's a single coil... sorry for the OT drift...
