Anyone try the Golden Age pickups yet? Supposed to be vintage tone. Way cheaper than DiMarzios and Duncans. May be a good reason for that.....or not.

You get what you pay for. The Golden Age pickups are good pickups for the money.
Dan Erlewine, who has alot of input over at Stew-Mac, doesn't use them in his own Les Paul though!
At /- 40$ each, i'd look for a '59 model used.
Generic single coils can be pretty good sometimes. Humbuckers tend to be--- generic.
Duncans are a much wiser investment.
