Hey guys anyone know the differences between these two models? Specifically, I'm referring to the older ones made in the 50's. I've been looking for a good project guitar, and I came across this:

It needs a lot of work, most of which seems to be cosmetic. It appears to be structurally sound and could be one hell of a score if it works out for me. It'll probably sell for more than I'm willing to pay, but just in case I get lucky, how would a 50's Junior differ from a regular Les Paul? I know many of the Junior models have P90's, are there other major differences? Thanks.

I won't get them all, but:
Junior/LP
Mahogany/mahogany w/ maple cap (most of them)
One P90/two humbuckers (big diff)
The bridges are different too. I always forget which one is called which.

That auction scares me.

Haha, maybe so, but if by some miracle the bidding stays low, it would be one hell of a nice score as far as project guitars go. I've been looking for an LP project, but even busted-ass Norlin era LP's are fetching $1500.

Besides, the quality is probably better than the current LP models.

The LP Junior was a poor man's version of a LP, no binding or other frills, flat top instead of carved. That guitar is ruined valuewise, a pity really. It won't be a miracle at all if the bidding stays low, I wouldn't pay that for it.

Jr's had no binding, dot inlays, cheep keys, P-90's, painted on Logo's, no maple top, etc...IMO even if it is a quot;realquot; 56 it's already too overpriced. The best thing about the one in your link is that being a 56 it should have a nice big fat neck!
