I'm home at my parents now over the holiday and have my tele with Alnico II Pro's with me... I have my Marshall AVT100 permanently situated here so I have something to play with when I'm here over weekends and so.
Well, I also brought my V-Stack pedal with me. And have to share my story about a amazing moment of playing Hendrixesque blues with this setup, I mean a amp like the AVT isn't really known to be a great sounding amp....just a so so.
But I have to say that it's a quite a time since I have really been amazed by the tone of it. I was able to summon a really amazing Plexi Marshall when playing through the V-Stack on Clean channel on the AVT100 (This is what's the best in this amp) with a subtle delay. It got me all jizzed up!
Just had to tell you guys who understand these kinds of feelings
Several months ago, I'd found a Marshall 30W Master Lead 1-12 combo from 1986 at a Goodwill Store for a measly $25. I'd messed with it every once in awhile, and it really sounded good with my LP's Custom 5. It sounded just like a good JCM 800, at cranked bedroom levels. However, I had the opportunity to get $200 for it, so I let it go.
On the day the guy came to pick it up, he brought a real 65 Strat and his Fulltone OCD. I dialed it up for him, while we took turns playing his strat.
I started having seller's remorse, listening to how great we got it sounding with a nice OD pedal and the Van Zandt strat pickups. I felt kinda bad letting it go, especially for $200.
