My ES175 is pretty trashed. Most of this can be passed off as quot;characterquot;, but the frets are awful. Some other neck issues need addressed, but the only thing I need input on is the frets.
Since discovering Charlie Hunter, I've become obsessed with jazz guitar, so that's what I want this thing to do. I string it up heavy (13-56), and keep the action medium-ish, not as low as my solid-bodies, not as high as slide. I want to go a little bigger than vintage wire, but not jumbo. What frets do I want?
Well, there is such a size called medium jumbo and I happen to have that in my semi-hollow 335 and I also play jazz with it.
seeing that your 175 has p-90's it is a 56 or earlier and that means that it would have pretty much a med jumbo fret...I would go back with a MJ...but that's what I like anyway most if the time...this is about you, a refret is not gonna cause any real problems as far as value go and im sure you'll keep it forever anyway...with in reason, do whatever feels right!
Medium Jumbo's bro!
