I'm going to trade my Peavey 5150 for a Laney AOR amp pedal. Which one should I get? I want to nail that super-hot Yngwie Marshall Plexi tone. It should be well equipped to handle single-coils, as that's what I'll be using on it 90% of the time.

If you're using it in a low volume home playing situation, the Tonebone will supply more gain....although I'd speculate that it sounds better with humbuckers than single coils.

For loud stage volume playing, the Fulltone FDII will have a more natural OD tone, since it has the amp's natural drive working for it.

The Tonebone is more gain heavy and focused, which is sometimes overkill in a loud situation, compared to the Fulltone. Conversely, the Fulltone won't be as impressive in a low volume situation.....but ya never know!

So would you say that the Fulltone is more single-coil friendly?

I think the Fulltone FDII is pretty good for humbuckers, but sounds far better for single coils. I've had an orange one and a blue one, but don't own them anymore.......I wish I had my early orange one back.....it was the 33rd one made! I guess I sold them during a time when I was auditioning a lot of OD's to find my favorite. After I got the Klon, I stopped searching, but that's more of a clean boost, which suits my needs to just make my amps sing better, without changing the sound. The Hotbritish is basically a very nice distortion pedal, while the FDII is like having two tubescreamers in one box.....only it sounds better.
