Hi Everyone
A friend just helped install my new pickups JB and Jazz into my Esp Viper 301
We left the old Emg Pots in I am not sure if the are 500 k
I have adjusted the pickups to the recomended heightBig Problems
I turn the gain up to 120 on my High Gain Distortion pedal and it still sounds like Classic Rock
The Pickups sound very High Pitched not Warm at all
The Jazz Neck Sounds Brighter than my last Bridge Pickup Emg HZ H1
and the bridge is even Brighter
There is Truck Motor sound when I don't play when I touch the strings the Truck Motor sound dissapears
Please Help I am pulling my hair out
welcome to the forum!!
sounds like you have a grounding problem at least. how do you have it wired?
1 for grounding problem
Stock HZ
Is that how The pickups are surposed to sound they sound very classic rockish I was told The JB and the Jazz were vertile pickups yet I can't get anything that even comes close to metallica with my GT-8
as I said High Gain sounds like Classic Rock
the black wire from each pup should go to the switch.
the red and white wires should be soldered togeather and wrapped in electrical tape or shrink tubeing.
the green and bare wires should go to ground, usually the back of the volume pot
We rapped the red and white in sticky tape as we did'nt have any electrical tape
The green and bare wires were soldered to the switch
Like The HZ were
where is the black wire?
it should look like this:
from : localhost//website...tone_3way.html
On the toggle switch
We used that diagram
Just check one of the wires had come undone the green one
These pickups don't sound Fat Something very odd I just enabled the Pickup Simulator on GT-8 now it sounds Fat I can play Metallica Stuff
It's like my pickups are Single Coils by default like one of the coils has been disabled
check the red/white connection, thats the series link
They are no soldered together they are only insulated could that be it
I've noticed that Duncans usually have different coloured wires than stock wires (or it could just be Epiphone that does that), so you could have the colours mixed possibly?
I also suggest you buy some electrical tape or proper shielding, because that will fix your problem in the long run.

this sounds more like the problem - either theyre the wrong type or you might have damaged one whilst soldering.. this causes a lot of 'it sounds nasal and weak!' problems..
if you run out of things to try, stop and do something else for a while. worse feeling ever is rushing something and hurting your guitar
