Thought you guys might be interested in this. This weekend I tracked a pile of speaker clips for a speaker company called Scumbag from : localhost/(great story behind the name too), which are special treated and designed speakers to replicate the pre-rola Celestion line from the late 60's. These are much cheaper than the originals and the new Celestion Heritage line. So we tracked these new speakers along with the originals and a few other brands that are very british sounding. This is a blind test for the next 10 days, which after that time Jim who owns Scumbag will devulge that list. These speakers are built by Weber, but with proprietary treatment and build instructions to replicate the originals.
We used a 1969 Marshall Plexi and a 65 Amps London. Check out the 65 Amps. Killer stuff... from : localhost/. Dan the owner had an appt to show them to the Stones last night! Sheryl Crows band uses them.
It's over at The Gear Page and here's a link to it below. We did 31 clips. If your game, list the top 3 in a post there on that thread. Hopefully for you guys looking into speakers will find this real useful.

from : localhost/is AWESOME! I'll be sure to listen to all of the clips in the morning. I've got a 71' Marshall 4x12 loaded w/ Pre Rola (labeled Rola) G12H30 75 HZ Greenbacks. This cab sounds like NOTHING else I've ever heard....truly amazing. I've been looking for another set of speakers to match these and don't want to spend a small fortune. I'm stoked to check these out!!!
Considering those originals would run you $400 a piece, the new Heritage line is like $225 each, the Scumbags (should you like them) are $159 each. And hearing them live made me a believer. I've got a '75 4x12 with blackback rolas 25 watters and they are pretty close to the pre rola greenbacks, and these Scumbags are very very close. I've got mine already picked out for my next 4x12. Something I was dreading because of another speaker trial and error session.
Sounds like great tip, and I´m looking for new Drivers anyway.... Where are the scumbag Drivers manufactured?
Zerb, the Scumbags are built by Weber Speakers in Indiana. Weber will not sell these, you can only buy them from Scumbag.
