Anyone have much experience with these?

I've had an original Sansamp and know what it can do (and it does it pretty damn well, I might add).

I've played the 10...but it was ages ago..don't remember much...

I've heard the Tech21 soundclips, but curious about those who use it.

I once tested it quite extensively. Felt quite nice to me, sounded like a quality piece. I feel that Tech21 makes great stuff. I've been eyeing the PSA-1 and the Trademark 300 myself.

Thanks for the feedback!

...anyone else care to comment?

Simon, where are ya bro?

Played one a while back when I was looking around for a backup amp. Really nice little unit. Not especially loud, seein g as it's 60 SS watts, but good sounding. Didn't end up buying one as I managed to get my Blue Angel head back, but I was tempted.

I love my TM60, though I haven't had the opportunity to use it on a gig yet. My previous band was full-on classic rock and the 50w Jubilee was great, but the band I'm rehearsing with now covers a wider range of material and doesn't play as loud. I wanted something more versatile that would sound good at all volumes. I'm not getting any younger, so the portability was a bonus too.

I set up the TM60 so that CH1 has a bluesy Fender-ish tone that breaks up when I hit it hard and CH2 has classic rock Marshall-esque distortion (Lizzy! ). If you've heard the Tech 21 soundclips you'll know that the TM60 can cover a pretty wide range of tones across the two channels. I love the clean boost facility - just what you need to get louder for solos when there's no sound engineer around! The foot-switchable effects loop is neat too - I leave my DD-3 in the back of the amp and have less cables trailing around the floor.

The controls are slightly non-conventional, but the manual is good and the sample settings (from BB King to Metallica via Clapton Bluesbreakers, Hendrix and VH1 ) give you some excellent starting points. It didn't take me long to find my sound. Everything is active and a little tweak goes a long way.

In rehearsals it has kept up with our drummer, though of course a 1x12 combo has limited spread. It sounds excellent through the PA using the XLR SansAmp output, and that's how I intend to use it for gigging. Other options for making it sound bigger are available - i.e. connect a bigger speaker cab (gonna try it sometime with my closed-back Marshall 2x12), or buy a matching Power Engine to add 60w, another speaker and stereo capability. The stock speaker is a Celestion Seventy 80, which I understand is considered a budget model. I haven't had any issues with it, but I have read favourable reports from people who have changed it out for something else.

On the downside, the Low and High EQ are shared between the channels, though the Punch (CH1) and Growl (CH2) knobs allow independent control of the midrange. I've had no problems getting the tones I want. You can't work the boost AND the reverb independently from the footswitch - you have to assign one or the other or both (quot;unique Link buttonquot; my arse! ). You could use a reverb unit in the loop to get around this if it was a problem.

Does it sound like a tube amp? Well, to my ears it does a damn good job. It won't fool all the tone hounds all the time and it isn't going to replace anyone's collection of boutique tube amps, but that's not what it was designed for. It is a solidly built pro-standard piece of gear with a bunch of great tones and practical features in a portable affordable package. Once I plug in to the TM60 and start rockin' I don't think about what's under the hood, so it must be doing something right! If it holds up for pub amp; club gigs it will have met all my requirements.

If you're looking for something that will sound great at home practice volume, but is also loud enough to use with a band, you should definitely check it out.

I've been experimenting lately with recording to my PC from the TM60's XLR output. It sounds great. If I ever get the time to finish anything (a big 'if' these days) I'll try to post a soundclip!

WOW....Looks like Simon has taken over as the TECH21-ologist !!!

I'm not sure I can add anything to that.....I had a Power Engine with mine amp; they worked well together.

The quot;Marshallquot; amp; quot;Mesaquot; tones are quite liveable, but it really excels at the clean quot;Fenderquot; tones.....nice reverb....takes to pedals well either up front or thru the loop. For the quot;Boostquot; or quot;Reverbquot; issue: I used an EQ pedal as a booster amp; just used the amp reverb....worked well.

Real nice compact amp......get it off the floor amp; rock out!!!

It's funny, when Simon first got his, we compared notes amp; we both started out with the same settings amp; just tweaked from there....and ended up with similar settings!

I think he's my long lost twin..............scary!

You think YOU'RE scared?!
So Jeff, you gonna try one?

Gotta FIND one first....I'm on a mission today to see what I can find for amps.

That and a Flextone are the front runners for right now....possibly the VOX ADT 60.

welp, wish me luck...off I go...

The tech 21 eats the flextone for tone. No contest. Haven't tried it up against the Vox.

I heard a tech 21 with a podxt infront of it at a small concert that was going on at a BBQ fest. He was playing eric clapton style blues with a Gamp;L strat, it sounded amazing, very rich sweet and warm.

Having Owned Both a TM60 and a Flextone let me tell ya...THE TM60 SLAUGHTERS THE FLEXTONE!
I used a TM60 extensively on a tour where I had very limited quot;gear spacequot;
Of course, no tubes, but depending on what you are using it for, it might be okay. Chances are that you will get your quot;ownquot; tone out of the TM60 long before you get it out of a FLEX (if ever)

PS- To all FLextone owners...sorry for bashing your amp. It just didn't work out for me very well. (although I do think they have their place in rough demos and sound experiment)

I liked the Trademark clips on their homepage very much and I thought one day to save some money for this amp but I also wanted to check out the Pod XT.Which rocks more tonewise? PodXT or Trademark 60?

Couldn´t play them yet but I´d like to have some opinions now

I like cool jazz tones and a Shawn Lane/Greg Howe Fusion tone or a slighty distorted John Scofield tone...this is what I´m looking for.

I played through my teacher´s Pod 2 and it sounded sweet but I bet a Trademark or the PodXT are better..so that´s the competition.

Thanks guys!

I haven't played a PodXT so I can't compare the two tonally.

Bear in mind that they are different creatures. The PodXT is a programmable digital modeller with built in effects. The TM60 is a two-channel analog solid state combo that emulates (rather than models) tube tone.

The TM60 has reverb but no other effects, and it has no facility for storing patches. It's just an amp and speaker - you tweak the knobs to set up your preferred tones on the two channels and that's it (though it does have the XLR output for recording/PA). The PodXT on the other hand will allow you to store multiple patches with effects, but it has no power stage or speakers - you would need to think about those separately unless you're only going to use it for recording or through headphones/PA.

Did you like the TM60 quot;George Bensonquot; / quot;Larry Carltonquot; soundclips?

Thanks Simon_F!

Yeah, I liked them very much. I think I´ll need a real amp because sometimes I have gigs and band sessions/meetings (sry dunno the english word) in the week.

I also need some nice overdrive and distortion sounds and I liked the Pod2 overdrive/distortion sounds, just to get the idea what I´m all about.

I couldn´t play a Trademark yet but I´m excited to play one though!

Couldn't find a TM 60 yesterday...Played a bunch of quot;practicequot; amps though..as I'm looking for something for mostly low volume at late night that still sounds decent....all of the ones I tried were solid stateor modeling...Peavey, Marshall MG amp; AVT (hybrid here obviously), Line 6, Behringer...

figured I'd make another thread about it in a bit...

And picking up where Simon left off, the TM60 is more quot;tube-likequot; than the POD.

BUT.....I tried my buddies POD thru the TM60 amp; it was FANTASTIC !!!

Set the TM60 to the Fender/American 4x12 amp; run any of the Fender or Marshall patches thru it amp; it sounded amazing.

Tech21 trick it's all about a high quality preamp and a transparent amp section. My TM10 it's build about this same concept.

I don't know if this will be extrapolable to TM60 but my TM10 has a very warm high quility tone. Emulates tube feeling very well and all cleans and distortions are very warm and powerfull. Actually distortions are much better that ones from the preamp of my Engl Thunder combo.

But it has a counterpart, of course... If you place it side by side to a tube amp you miss from TM10 the liveness and the harmonics that just pop out from the speaker. Something it is missing... But then, if you look at the price you've paid, the huge sonic posibilities of the amp and the high quality tones, then you forget about that very quickly.

TM60 it is one of the amp I definitely want to own someday in my life.

Side note: I've build myself a 4x8'' cabinet with Weber Alnico Signature Series speakers (July special offer ) and the TM10 sound absolutely great throught it. And at home volumes!

Just came upon this thread. Another TM 60 fan. I tried one for over an hour in the store when it first came out and really liked it.
Just got one this past July and am glad I bought it. Definitely quot;out tonesquot; the Flextone in my experience. That crunchy Fender tone is definitely my favorite. I set most of my stomp boxes to take advantage of it in some way.
Really like that large bottom end.

I cranked mine up a bit louder at band practice the other night. I love this amp more every time I play it!

I'm trying to sell my Trademark 120.
