So, does this set really give everything. Rock pop BLues modern tones and give straty notch position tones?

I want a rock and blues sound but definitely want to be more rock. Like Sunshine of Your Love, Crossroads, and Hendrix and into 80's Def Leppard style whatever the Seymour version of DiMarzio's HS-3 that Phil Collen uses.

What kind fo Strat do you have?

If you have a swimming pool routed strat, or one routed for HSS, I would install a pair of Classic, or even Hot stacks in the neck and middle (to cover the Hendrix and HS-3 style tones) and either a Custom 5 or Custom Custom in the bridge to cover the Clapton (and EVH, and Skynard, and ...... ). Add a push pull pot or a mini switch to go from series to parallel with the Custom Custom and you wil have pretty much everything.

I have an SSS strat. no swimming pool. I want it to be THE SUPER STRAT!

The rockin' blues fest guitar. I want it to do 60's 70's 80's 90's 00's straight ahead rock and roll. With all single coils.

I kinda like the tone wizard suggestion of Lil' 59 with a quarter pound at the neck and middle.

Benjy_26 you are cool.

hey there I-70 - welcome to the forum

not asking for much are ya

that's a tall order for 1 S-S-S guitar to cover ...

for 80's a lil JB in the bridge would be cool .. a lil59 in the neck would give alot of versatility for bluesy and classic rock ... a VR in the middle would give cool #2 and #4 tones with the splits in the neck and/or bridge

good luck

The QP's are great pups. They have the P90 balls and grind. For everything, and I mean everything I'd go with classic stacks n/m and a 59 with push pull for splitting. That way you can get your notch sounds.

For more oomph in the bridge a JBjr, it just wont have the same twang split.

T4D is right a 59 neck and JB bridge will give you more bucker options.

If you are worried about noise stick with the classic stack in the middle.

Right now my strat has APS' and it can do a heck of a lot, with a bucker I couldn't see my guitar not being able to do something.

Hold on now Luke Duke.
You've had me sold on the APS and now you selling me on the QP's are they really that good? Now your saying that the APS with a mini humbucker like the Lil' 59 will be a good combo? I like the sound of that arrangement.

I'm gonna have to stop reading your posts. I'm too easily influenced!
I want a guitar that will do it all. Just as this post is asking.

Now now Toad, you never said specifically you wanted it all. All means you need buckers too.

The QP's are going to be less stratty and more bassy than the APS or SSL1. I'm not the biggest fan of buckers in the neck slot. The QPs are high output and will need to be significantly lower than the bridge pup. If I was pairing them with a bucker it would be a JBjr or Hot rails in the bridge, that way it will have more outpu.

That outfit wouldn't do SRV very well though, or the other low output strat guys tone.

I would go SSH with single sized bucker in the bridge if you want more grind.

Luke

PS If you'll notice I mentioned the APS' in conjuction with a bridge bucker too
