'lo guys - the rg7621 supposedly comes with blaze II pickups.. are these basically trussed up stock pickups, or are they available as aftermarket ones? they're very scooped indeed, i wouldnt call myself a fan..

Rg7621, is that MIJ? I don't see it on the Ibanez site.

they were supposed to be pretty good pickups, first 7-string pups i beleive back when vai came out with the universe guitar.

The Blaze II pickups are the stock Dimarzio's equipped with every Ibanez Universe ever made and also the RG76XX guitars that have since been discontinued.

But believe it or not, I have the quot;Ultimate answerquot; to this question, straight from Dimarzio´s own tech support back when I still had my seven and was looking to quot;pigeonholequot; the Blaze Customs so I´d know my starting point. I don´t have the mail anymore, but I can tell you the jist of what he said ...

What Ibanez calls The Blaze Custom / Blaze II and such are all still the same pickup, we only wind one set of Blaze pickups for seven strings.

I was very surprised to read that in their answer, IIRC the Bridge was a Super 2 type voicing and the neck was voiced like a super distortion.... but I may have that switched around

yeah, its MIJ and very very well made its a basswood body, rosewood board. how would custom/jazz sound? im pretty much set on jazz for the neck, which SD 7 string pups would go close to 'passion warfare' era vai?

I agree... quot;Doomed to Failquot; was done with a Duncan Custom, sounded quite a bit better
