Whats up ya'll recently ive been workin on fixing up an old tele i found in a guitar store a few years ago, it was like the second guitar i ever bought. I checked the serial number and it turned out to be a mid 80s japanese tele.. i just replaced the neck with a maple mexican standard replacement from fender. i just changed out the bridge pickup with a hotrails and i love the sound i get from it outta my hughes amp; kettner. but since i installed it the neck pickup sounds weak (i think its stock, not sure) but ive been wanting to put another SD in there. im thinkin i wanna rout it out and put a pearly gates in, but i havent seen it done, im sure it has been. i play heavier rock but im a sucker for tone, so generally the gain is down pretty low just enough to let it rip but stay clear. id want the neck pickup to be good for clean rhythms but if i felt like puttin some crunch on it, id want it to have some balls, not too metal like but not too bluesy either.. any one have any suggestions?

right now i play:
'99 Squier Affinity Strat, (Fender Lace Sensors in Neck and Mid and a SD SH-6 in the bridge) prolly my favorite to play
mid 80's Fender Tele (SD Hot rails in bridge, stock neck)
2004-5 Fender Standard Tele Special Edition (stock pickups)
2005 Gibson Les Paul Studio (neck: 490R bridge:498T)
Alvarez RF20SC Acoustic/Electric

Amps: Hughes amp; Kettner Tour Reverb, Attax 100 Cab Hughes amp; Kettner Original Triamp, Peavy cab with Celestion Greenbacks
